Graphic Designer (Framework Contract)

Assignment Description: Graphic Designer to design DRI’s publications, incl. policy papers in English and Arabic, monthly newsletters, and various research and communications outputs using an existing DRI layout template.

Assignment Location: Home-based.  

Employment Type: Short-term consultancy. 

Assignment Period: April-December 2024.

Background 

Democracy Reporting International (DRI) is a non-partisan, independent, not-for-profit organisation registered in Berlin. DRI promotes the political participation of citizens, accountability of state bodies, and the development of democratic institutions worldwide. Democratic discourse is the basis of our mission and vision. In our work, we facilitate discussion and exchange about democratic government and the need for a continuous discourse adhering to democratic rules.

DRI has been active in Lebanon since 2016. We strengthen democracy by bringing it closer to people through effective local governance, improved transparency, and citizen participation.

In this context, DRI is looking for a Graphic Designer to design DRI’s publications, incl. policy papers in English and Arabic, monthly newsletters, and various research and communications outputs using an existing DRI layout template.

Your duties and responsibilities: 

 Under the supervision of DRI’s Country Representative, the Graphic designer will:

  • Execute the design, visualisation, and graphic identity of policy papers for print and web;
  • Create visual content for publications for print and web in line with DRI’s visual identity, layout, and guidelines;
  • Ensure visual consistency by maintaining the existing fixed styles, fonts, formatting, icons, images and designs, and layout techniques;
  • Provide DRI Lebanon with the original design files in high-resolution formats to ensure sustainability and ownership by DRI.

Your skills and experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in graphic design, Information Technology, or other relevant fields;
  • 3–5 years of experience as a graphic designer preferably with printing houses;
  • Excellent command of written and spoken English and Arabic;
  • Good Knowledge of composition, page layout design, art and office/web software packages such as InDesign, InCopy, Illustrator, Photoshop, Acrobat, MS Word, and MS Excel;
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Proven reputable experience in layout and designing of reports;
  • Outstanding attention to detail, thoroughness, and accuracy.
