FSL Officer

This position will work with a counselor's team for providing advisory services and technical expertise to a variety of vulnerable families in a defined geographic area of Akkar. This position main role is to lead and follow up with the team to provide livelihood counselling, provide individual needs-based coaching, share relevant information and assist people to reflect on their aspirations, interests, competencies, personal attributes, qualifications and abilities and to match these with available training and employment opportunities.

Responsibilities: 

Program Implementation

  • Lead the implementation of Livelihoods activities on a daily basis, in line with program implementation plans and against donor requirements / indicators and partner’s contractual agreements.
  • Act as the main liaison between the partner of Akkarouna’s office; maintain good relationship with beneficiaries, and professional relationships with local leaders/authorities.
  • Support with the collection of information for the purpose of household economy analysis conducted by the enumerators.
  • Support the completion of any other studies/evaluations throughout the project period and facilities consultant’s work on the field.
  • Manage the work of the counselling staff and support them in outreach and beneficiaries’ identification and liaise with partner’s team for validation and confirmation.
  • Conduct household interviews and focus group discussions to collect information, as needed.
  • Assist in the development of training / awareness raising materials, and organize and conduct trainings for staff, program beneficiaries and stakeholders.
  • Assist in the capacity development activities of the counselling staff and team members, including and not limited to technical support, training sessions and coaching visits.
  • Assists with the training of the counselling staff and team members to ensure they have solid understanding of the key program documents and tools, including monitoring and evaluation questionnaires.
  • Collect needed data from the team members and the field for the purpose of activities and donor reporting.
  • Ensure proper filling and documentation of project related to documents and activities.
  • Report and deviance from the program pan in timely manner.
  • Participate in internal and external coordination meeting as required, and interact regular with Akkarouna’s other sectors (education, child protection, health/nutrition shelter) to ensure coordinated and efficient programming.
  • Contributes to lessons learnt / best practices workshops and ensure their implementation on the field.
  • Work with logistic staff form program procurements and logistics for the preparation of workshop and training, according to Akkarouna’s procurement guideline and manuals.
  • Assist in the beneficiaries’ registration and distributions in collaboration with the team, partners and communities, when needed.
  • Support in awareness raising sessions when needed.
  • Promote accountability and transparency with all the implementing activities.
  • Supports and stimulates teamwork within Akkarouna’s team and the partners’ team as well.
  • Contributes to the institutional memory and the experience-sharing by reporting and feedback, innovating initiatives and by networking with other colleagues.
  • Carry out additional tasks upon decision by the Project Manager and/or Operations Manager.
  • Perform other duties as required by Akkarouna.

 

Experience and technical competencies required: (include years of experience)

  • Minimum 2-3 years of experience in development programs, preferably working in food security and & livelihoods.
  • Experience in managing a team
  • Good time management skills
  • Experience in data collection and analysis
  • Experience in field work and community mobilization; and in training groups of beneficiaries
  • Fluency in written and spoken Arabic and English
  • Computer skills (especially Excel)
  • Strength in interpersonal, communication and presentation skills

 

Education: 

Degree in Economics, Finance, International Relations, Social Sciences, Development studies or similar field
