Director of Clinical Training Program- Part Time

A. GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

The main role of Director of Clinical Training Program is to supervise the clinical work of therapists in training throughout their academic year through various modalities including individual and group supervision and coordinating with and developing long-term partnerships with universities to recruit.

C. ​​​​​​​MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • Receiving, screening, and coMas
  • nducting annually interviews with psychology graduates applying to the Embrace Clinical Training Program
  • Supervising the clinical work of therapists in training throughout their academic year through various modalities including individual and group supervision
  • Evaluating the clinical and ethical conduct of therapists in training through bi-annual and annual performance evaluations
  • Coordinating with and developing long-term partnerships with universities to recruit psychology graduate students and report back on their performance by end of year
  • Coordinating with and recruiting highly qualified individual supervisors to supervise therapists in training
  • Tracking and monitoring Clinical Training Program annual budget
  • Setting a yearly comprehensive and diverse didactic program for therapists in training
  • ​​​​​​​​​​​​​​D.QUALIFICATONS

​​​​​​​1.Critical Skills

  • Master's degree or PhD in Clinical Psychology, counseling Psychology, School/Educational Psychology or Pediatric Neuropsychology.
  • License to practice the Clinical psychology profession from the Lebanese Ministry of Public Health.
  • More than 5 yeard of clinical experience with children/adolescents, post MS
  • Fluency in English, Arabic. French is a plus.

 

2. Professional Skills and Knowledge

  • Ability to provide semi-structured clinical assessments and clear case formulation
  • Ability to recognize mental health priority conditions as per the mhGAP
  • Ability to use standardized assessment tools, especially for school-related issues such as learning disabilities.
  • Ability to provide empathic, evidence-based, brief, psychotherapy to a culturally diverse population of children/adolescents aged between 5 and 21. Experience with children zero to five is a plus.
  • Ability to provide psychoeducation to parents and child/adolescents on a variety of topics including parenting skills, stress-management, anti-bullying, and relaxation tools.
  • Ability to develop a consistent treatment plan with clear objectives.
  • Ability to monitor and evaluate the psychological progress of the client.
  • Ability to provide clinical supervision or leading trainings is a plus.

Skilled in or willing to build their capacity and knowledge in:

  • Developing family-centered, goal and strength focused, recovery-oriented care plan.
  • Mental health in complex emergencies (IASC guidelines, Psychological First Aid, mhGAP…).
  • Biopsychosocial model in mental health.
  • Community-based approach in mental health.
  • Human rights-based approach in mental health.
  • Evidence-based approach in mental health (e.g., IPT, CBT, TFCBT, EMDR)
  • Knowledge about the predictable stresses of humanitarian aid work and the policies and practices needed to mitigate them.

3. Behavioural Skills

  • Demonstrates excellent organization and time managment skills.
  • Demonstrates ability to work in a multidisciplinary team.
  • Demonstrates excellent communication, problem solving, interpersonal and conflict resolution skills.
  • Demonstrrates a high level of professionalism while providing services to beneficiaries or working with internal support staff.
  • Demonstrates ability to adhere to ethical considerations and principles about work with vulnerable populations.
  • Demonstrates cultural sensitivity.
