Accountant

 

Main tasks:

Bookkeeping
:

  • Administer and maintain the project’s financial system accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Manage books, invoices, income, expenses, and funds for the projects using different bookkeeping systems.
  • Check purchase invoices, verify signatures, and record transactions.
  • Contribute to the preparation of periodic financial reports for donors and monthly financial reports for project managers and the country director.
  • Provide financial data for the preparation of trimester financial reports and the annual report.
  • Respond to inquiries from the Services and support manager and the director regarding financial figures.

Financial Monitoring:

  • Monitor financial sheets from partner organizations (in case of subcontracting) by reviewing budget and expenditure documents.
  • Check and verify invoices, receipts, and reports submitted by partners.
  • Maintain a proper statement of account for each partner.
  • Issue payments for partner NGOs if needed.
  • Contribute to providing financial statements.
  • Prepare the cash flow of the project.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Participate in various tasks and taskforces, including joining special taskforces to innovate and improve work processes.
  • Support project staff members when required.
  • Audit other projects financially upon request.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned by the management team of Dorcas/Tabitha.
  • Create/update projects budgets and their forecast.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
  • At least 2-3 years of working experience in the field; experience with NGOs is required.
  • Knowledge of donor rules and regulations.
  • Fluency in English and Arabic; excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Self-motivated, honest, highly responsible, and punctual.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Flexibility and adaptability with a strong sense of humanitarian work.
