CON2024 46 Protection Assistant (Partnerships/Community engagement)

The evolving and multi-layered crisis in Lebanon, having had a devasting effect on economic conditions in the country and the population as whole, has led to demonstrable humanitarian needs among the most vulnerable populations in the country. In the past, migrants, and other historically and structurally marginalized groups, have faced barriers to accessing life-saving and humanitarian assistance, including protection and health services, in emergency contexts.

The consultant will support the ongoing programs on protection, with a focus on partnerships to enhance migrants’ protection, and the emergency program in the South of Lebanon.

Tasks to be performed under this contract

  1. Assist in the planning, coordination and implementation of protection activities. Conduct field visits to monitor ongoing activities including community-dialogue sessions with crisis-affected population.
  2. Prepare regular reports and ensure proper information exchange on all operational aspects of projects with the supervisor and relevant staff.
  3. Assist in the implementation of activities within the scope of protection programs, particularly in relation to partnerships, community based protection and emergency response.
  4. Support and monitor implementing partner in the implementation of the various activities under the Protection Programmes, including on migrants’ protection assistance and emergency response.
  5. Compile, summarize, analyse, and present information/data on protection topics, highlighting noteworthy issues for the consideration of appropriate parties.
  6. Prepare training materials and participate in the delivering of capacity building workshops on protection and related topics.
  7. Participate in meetings, sector meetings and workshops when required.  
  8. Perform other duties as assigned

 

Performance indicators for the evaluation of results

  • Number of protection activities successfully planned, coordinated, and implemented.
  • Frequency and quality of field visits conducted to monitor ongoing activities, including community-dialogue sessions with crisis-affected populations.
  • Information exchange maintained with supervisors and relevant staff on all operational aspects of projects
  • Number of activities successfully implemented within the scope of protection programs, with a focus on partnerships, community-based protection, and emergency response

Education, Experience and/or skills required

  • Completed bachelor degree from an accredited academic institution preferably in Law, Political or Social science, international affairs, or related field with 5 years of experience or;
  • Master’s degree with 4 years of relevant work experience.
  • Experience with protection and assistance to vulnerable population.
  • Experience in relevant issues such as migration, displacement, and humanitarian assistance an asset; Working experience with International Organizations or INGO an advantage.
