PSU Medical Nurse

The PSU Medical Nurse is responsible for overseeing and coordinating the activities of the Primary Healthcare Satellite Unit (PSU). He/she will be providing healthcare services in various locations through the PSU and ensuring access to essential primary healthcare services for the most vulnerable communities. The PSU medical nurse will play a key role in ensuring high-quality of care by assessing and evaluating patients’ health needs and facilitating access to optimal services.

 

Responsibilities and Essential Functions

Act as the main point of contact for the PSU and establish effective and clear communications with the key stakeholders especially in locations where the activities will be conducted.

Coordinate, plan and manage the logistics for each PSU visit, ensuring smooth operations and effective coordination between all involved stakeholders.

Assist with the setup of the PSU and ensure it is fully equipped, stocked and prepared for daily operations.

Prepare, in coordination with the involved PHCC, for each PSU visit by replenishing the medical drugs’ stock.

Maintain cleanliness and sanitation standards inside the mobile unit in compliance with healthcare regulations.

Adhere to healthcare regulations, infection control policies and safety protocols.

Set a clear schedule and implementation plan for the PSU in close coordination with the PSU team and ensure proper coordination with the involved PHCC to confirm availability of the unit.

During each PSU visit, perform comprehensive health assessments to the patients including preparing patient files, recording patient health histories and conducting primary physical examinations (such as measuring blood pressure, fever….).

Assist the PSU Medical Doctor with various nursing tasks, including health screenings, administering medications, and providing necessary supplements.

Provide preventive care, including vaccinations, screenings, and health education on different topics during each PSU visit.

Participate in outreach activities and health fairs to promote PSU services when applicable.

Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, documenting diagnoses, treatments, and progress in accordance with IOCC’s policies and regulatory requirements.

Coordinate closely with the project team and refer cases requiring further medical attention to the primary or secondary healthcare, as needed.

Ensure that medical equipment is functional and manage the supply needs to ensure smooth PSU operations.

Collaborate with the PSU medical team to coordinate patient care.

Prepare and submit relevant PSU schedules and payments on monthly basis to the supervisor.

Submit reports to the Project Coordinator and MEAL department as requested.

Perform other duties as necessary.

Qualifications

Current and valid nursing license (Registered Nurse).

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with patients, families, and healthcare team members.

Strong clinical assessment skills.

Fluency in reading/writing/speaking Arabic is necessary, good English language is mandatory.

Computer literacy: Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc.

Experience required: More than two years of experience in primary health care or community health nursing preferred.

Able to work in all field circumstances including shelters, camps, municipality buildings.

Working Conditions

Will entail substantial traveling and visits to locations where beneficiaries are living (at the community level) and PSU services are provided.

It is preferable that candidate resides in Marjeyoun area.
