Social Worker - North

Key responsibilities  

Accountability and Complexity 

Visit Collective Shelters (CSs) or any field areas where MHPSS sessions are required. 

Provide PSS (Psychosocial Support) sessions for both adults and children, addressing traumatic events and promoting overall well-being. 

Deliver one-on-one, non-specialized sessions either in the field, at centers, or remotely, based on the needs of the participants. 

Ensure timely and appropriate referrals to RI’s Mental Health (MH) team or external specialized services. 

Conduct assessments of the psychological and emotional needs of individuals in emergency situations, adjusting sessions accordingly. 

Coordinate and refer parents/caregivers requiring mental health or psychosocial support to the MH team, ensuring that the approach is holistic and supports family dynamics during crises. 

Collaborate with shelter coordinators and field teams to ensure appropriate space and resources are available for conducting PSS sessions. 

Assist in identifying high-risk cases and refer them to specialized mental health services when necessary. 

Provide crisis intervention support for individuals dealing with acute emotional distress. 

Participate in awareness-raising activities about the importance of mental health during emergency situations. 

Document and report on the progress of PSS sessions and any emergent needs within the shelters or field areas. 

Ensure that participants have access to relevant mental health and psychosocial resources, including referral pathways and support services. 

Update and adapt intervention plans on a monthly basis to reflect the evolving needs of the population, considering feedback from participants and staff, as well as the current context of the emergency response. 

Assist in monitoring and evaluation activities, providing feedback and contributing to the continuous improvement of PSS interventions, including the collection of relevant data for reporting and accountability purposes. 

Engage with local communities and stakeholders to build trust and ensure smooth implementation of activities, while identifying potential challenges or barriers to service provision. 

 

Reporting and Documentation: 

Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all sessions conducted, including participant attendance, session content, and feedback received. 

Prepare regular progress reports detailing the outcomes of the PSS sessions, including challenges faced and recommendations for future improvements. 

Document referrals made to the MH team, ensuring follow-up and monitoring of referred cases to track their progress and well-being. 

Support with the preparation of monthly and quarterly reports, providing detailed updates on session outcomes, challenges, and success stories.  

Responsible for archiving required documents/reports 

Ensure efficient data collection by filling in the mental health database daily (assessment form, follow-up form) and KOBO 

 

Coordination: 

Coordinate with the MHPSS Supervisor and other team members to ensure the seamless delivery of sessions, aligning them with RI’s overall program goals. 

Communicate with RI’s MH team to provide updates on participants’ progress and discuss any additional support needed for specific cases. 

Work collaboratively with other Social Workers and psychologist to share best practices, develop session materials, and ensure a consistent approach.  

Actively participate in coordination meetings, staff meetings, and lessons learned events, sharing insights and experiences to contribute to the team’s overall learning and service improvement.
