INT2024 58 - ICT Intern

The ICT unit plays a crucial role in maintaining and optimizing the organization's IT infrastructure. The team is responsible for diagnosing and resolving technical issues, providing customer service and technical support, and ensuring that software and systems are up-to-date and secure. Additionally, the IT unit is involved in setting up and managing network hardware, documenting processes and procedures, and preparing new laptops for deployment. The unit also conducts research for upcoming IT projects and maintains an organized and efficient workspace.

Under the overall supervision of the Resource Management Officer in Lebanon and direct supervision of the Senior ICT Assistant and in close coordination with the Information and Communication Unit at IOM Lebanon, the intern will undertake the following tasks

Learning Objectives and Key Responsibilities:

  1. Gain hands-on experience in diagnosing and resolving technical problems.
  2. Develop skills in customer service and technical support by addressing user issues.
  3. Learn about the upkeep and optimization of IT infrastructure.
  4. Understand the importance of keeping software up-to-date and secure.
  5. Enhance your technical writing skills by documenting processes and procedures.
  6. Gain practical knowledge in setting up and managing network hardware.
  7. Develop research skills and contribute to the planning and execution of IT initiatives.
  8. Learn the importance of maintaining an organized and efficient workspace.
  9. Gain practical experience in setting up new laptops by installing essential software and configuring user settings to ensure they are ready for use. This will help you understand the process of preparing devices for deployment and the importance of proper configuration for user satisfaction

Applicants for IOM internships:

  • Must, at the time of application,

a) be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum bachelor’s level or equivalent); or

b) be enrolled in a graduate school program (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); or

c) have graduated with a university degree and, if selected, must commence the internship within one year of graduation.

  • Must be between 20 and 36 years of age.
  • Should have a working knowledge (both oral and written) of in one of IOM’s official languages (English).
