Research Officer- Porticus Project

The Porticus-funded “Towards a Social and Emotional Learning Policy for Children in Lebanon” aims to devise a national roadmap toward establishing solid foundations from which to facilitate the development of a comprehensive SEL policy for Lebanon; policies in SEL will ensure a systematic integration and institutionalization of an SEL culture into both the formal and non-formal educational system.

World Learning has an immediate vacancy for its Beirut-based “Research Officer” for the Porticus-funded “Towards a Social and Emotional Learning Policy for Children in Lebanon”. This position is for a Lebanese national.

 

Scope and Responsibilities

The “Research Officer” for the Porticus-funded “Towards a Social and Emotional Learning Policy for Children in Lebanon” will be reporting to the Porticus Project Manager and the Senior SEL Specialist.

The responsibilities of the Research Officer include:

  • Systematic review and synthesis of existing SEL research informing policy recommendations and program design.
  • Designing and conducting key informant and semi-structured interviews and focus group discussions that capture perspectives from diverse audiences and stakeholders to ensure comprehensive data collection that contributes to the SEL policies for children.
  • Maintaining detailed records of research activities, methodology, and outcomes.
  • Regularly updating team members on research progress, sharing insights and soliciting feedback to enhance collaborative efforts.
  • Engaging in reflective practice with team members to identify gaps in research and potential new areas for exploration, fostering continuous improvement.
  • Analyzing data and preparing clear, concise reports that effectively communicate research findings to stakeholders.
  • Creating engaging presentations to share research outcomes with various stakeholders, ensuring accessibility of information in both English and Arabic.
  • Collaborating with team to produce technical documents and academic papers that contribute to the field of SEL and policy development.
  • Representing the project in meetings, foster strong relationships with partners and stakeholders, and ensure alignment with project goals.
  • Contributing to the synthesis of research findings into a comprehensive final report, incorporating feedback from team members and stakeholders.
  • Flexibility to take on additional tasks as needed to support the project objectives and enhance overall effectiveness.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned by project manager and senior SEL specialist

Knowledge/Expertise/Skills required:

  • Excellent capacity in research, communication and facilitation skills
  • Expertise SEL, PSS, Life Skills and similar programs.
  • Excellent relationship management skills
  • Solid knowledge of Lebanon’s National SOPs and MEHE structure
  • Solid knowledge of SEL mainstreaming in Education
  • Excellent analysis, reporting, and M&E skills and experience evaluating knowledge acquisition and learning from workshops.
