Scope of work:
The Safeguarding Policy Expert will collaborate with young women from the She Leads program to design a comprehensive safeguarding policy that will be implemented in collective shelters for the protection of women and children. This role entails training She Leads members on safeguarding principles and collaboratively developing a draft policy, informed by best practices, to address various forms of abuse and exploitation.
Main Tasks and Responsibilities (include but are not limited to)
- Develop and conduct training sessions on safeguarding policies with young women from the She Leads program, covering:
- Core safeguarding concepts
- Best practices in abuse prevention and response
- Reporting and accountability mechanisms
- Facilitate a group workshop to gather input and insights from She Leads participants for the safeguarding policy draft.
- Lead the development of a draft safeguarding policy tailored for use in collective shelters, ensuring it addresses risks and protection measures for women and children.
- Collaborate closely with KAFA’s Child Protection Unit and other stakeholders to align the safeguarding policy with KAFA’s broader child protection strategy.
- Provide progress updates and comprehensive documentation, including training materials, session outcomes, and policy drafts.
- Attend relevant meetings and provide feedback to enhance KAFA’s protection and safeguarding frameworks.
Required Qualifications (skills and Experience):
- Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in Public Policy, Human Rights, or a related field.
- A minimum of three years of experience in safeguarding, child protection, or GBV-related policy development.
- Expertise in developing and implementing safeguarding policies within collective or community settings.
- Demonstrated experience in conducting trainings and facilitating group discussions.
- Knowledge of local context, especially the needs and vulnerabilities of women and children in collective shelters.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with fluency in English and Arabic.
- Strong documentation skills with the ability to translate complex concepts into practical policy measures.
- Computer literacy, particularly in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Proven ability to work collaboratively and engage youth and community members in policy development.
