Project Background
In response to the crisis in Lebanon, compounded by the challenges of the displacement, the project’s objective is to provide high-impact, life-saving multi-sectoral interventions to address the immediate needs of the Internally Displaced Population (IDPs) in Beirut affected by the war. The multi-sectoral intervention includes Health, Education and Child Protection.
The education intervention aims to enhance access to learning opportunities and promote the well-being of internally displaced children affected by the crises in Lebanon through recreational and education in emergencies activities.
Primary Purpose:
The Adaptive Recreational Activities Facilitator is responsible for support and guidance to children who are at risk of dropping out of school. The facilitator will work on improving the performance of these learners in a supportive active learning environment.
Task #1: Providing a quality adaptive learning activities:
- Design and implement a diverse range of recreational activities, including physical activities, games, arts and crafts, and educational activities.
- Plans, prepares, and delivers comprehensive session plans and instructional materials to address the different learning abilities;
- Adapt activities to meet the needs and abilities of various age groups and skill levels, ensuring an inclusive and supportive environment.
- Lead children through creative play and hands-on activities.
- Lead group sessions, motivating and encouraging participants to engage fully in the activities.
- Maintain and organize activity materials, equipment, and spaces, ensuring they are safe, clean, and ready for use.
- Develops and prepares a variety of materials and resources (worksheets and activities);
- Increases children’s autonomy in completing their tasks;
- Encourages the children’s cooperation and self-learning (peer-to-peer, tutoring, etc.);
- Performs all the tasks assigned within the scope of his/her job.
Task #2: Monitoring & evaluation:
- Design relevant tools to assess the children’s progress (Diagnostics tests, pre/post-tests, personal observation, regular assessment, etc.);
- Monitors the attendance of the children daily;
- Reports the results to the social worker and the focal point on time.
Task #3: Protection:
- Ensures the implementation of Amel’s Code of Conduct, Child protection policy, and Safeguarding policies and procedures;
- Establishes classroom rules and procedures to maintain a safe, respectful, and inclusive classroom environment;
- Oversees children during recess and activities;
- Adopts positive discipline practices (“child-friendly” class management);
- Supports the social worker/psychologist in engaging the community members in the children’s learning (communication skills);
- Supports the organization of any specific activities to respond to urgent needs;
- Designs and organizes occasional activities (such as community events, distribution, etc.) in coordination with other team members according to the community needs;
- Implements the protective measures for health protection continuously.
Task #4: Coordination:
- Coordinates daily with the project’s team members to adopt the collective response to the children's needs (coherent response with animator, social worker, psychologist, etc.);
- Attends and takes part in staff meetings;
- Shares pictures of the activities on the common WhatsApp group and upload them on the drive based on Amel’s communication guidelines;
- Takes initiative to find collective solutions to challenges due to context/situation changes and adapts the project’s activities according to the retention support project goal (coordination meetings);
- Ensures smooth referrals with the field officer/ social worker/psychologist for individual cases (children, adults) with the internal referral pathways;
Task #5: Professional Development:
- Participates in internal and external professional development activities (20 training hours yearly).
Working hours: 6 days/ week + additional hours (preparation, coordination meetings, events, distribution, etc.).
Requirements, Qualifications and Skills:
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited university.
- 1-2 years of experience working in recreational activities, education or a similar experience with children.
- Knowledge of recreational activities, games, sports, arts, and crafts.
- Languages: Proficiency in English and Arabic.
Reports to: Field Officer, Field Coordinator, Project Coordinator, or Learning Development Coordinator
