Focal Point ( 4 Positions ) - L Multisectoral

BACKGROUND

In response to the crisis in Lebanon, compounded by the challenges of the displacement, the project’s objective is to provide high-impact, life-saving multi-sectoral interventions to address the immediate needs of the Internally Displaced Population (IDPs) in Beirut affected by the war. The multi-sectoral intervention includes Health, Education and Child Protection. 

The education intervention aims to enhance access to learning opportunities and promote the well-being of internally displaced children affected by the crises in Lebanon through recreational and education in emergencies activities. ). Additionally, the project integrates child protection measures through a community-based approach, including parenting programs, safe identification, and referrals, focused psychosocial support (PSS), and case management

             

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsibility #1: Internal coordination

  • Participate in weekly team meetings;
  • Liaise with Amel on different programs in the assigned location;
  • Monitor contextual updates and engage in relevant coordination/information-sharing meetings as required to inform Amel’s Education Programs’ strategy;
  • Share constantly the updates related to the project’s implementation with the Field Coordinator daily;
  • Participate in other required internal meetings. 

Responsibility #2: Collaboration, Networking

  • The focal points are in charge of outreach, and liaison with teachers and other members of the education and child protection teams. The focal points report to the field coordinator.
  • Develop and maintain positive relations with the communities and other stakeholders;
  • Involve and inform communities and stakeholders about the activities;
  • Coordinate with relevant partners in the assigned locations.

Responsibility #3: Projects Implementation

  • Under the supervision of the Education and CP Field Coordinator, the Focal Point will implement the project’s activities in line with the relevant outputs and outcomes inside & outside the collective shelters; 
  • Coordinate closely among and between the different project’s teams working in the same area to identify common challenges, gaps, and needs and report them to the Education and CP Field Coordinator;
  • Conduct outreach work and collect information for the identification of beneficiaries (parents’ committees, schools’ directors, etc.);
  • Assist the social worker in the provision of awareness sessions to the children, caregivers and communities; 
  • Identify the communities’ needs and the children’s needs to be referred to the social worker;
  • Organize and adjust the schedule of the project’s activities.
  • Ensure beneficiaries’ attendance to the different project’s activities with constant follow-up;
  • Collect the children’s attendance on a daily basis to be reported to the Education and CP Field Coordinator; 
  • Organize the occasional activities in collaboration with the Education and CP Field Coordinator and other team members as per the project’s workplan;
  • Collect from the teachers the learning activities plans and provide guidance if needed. 

 

Responsibility #4 Quality standards

  • Monitor and follow-up on the quality of services provided with class/activities observation and ensure consistency in the teachers’ learning activities plan with the project’s methodologies;
  • Support in creating a safe space environment conducive to learning and appropriate to the physical, social, and emotional development of children inside the collective shelters;
  • Ensure adherence to Amel policies and donor requirements;
  • Ensure a strict adherence to the principles of Child Protection at all times, including respect for confidentiality and a child-centered approach, acts in the best interests of the child;
  • Ensure that all activities abide by humanitarian principles and sector principles and standards.

Responsibility #5: Monitoring & Evaluation / Reporting 

  • Enter and update on a monthly basis data related to beneficiaries and activities in the education database/outreach sheet; 
  • Prepare quantitative reports upon request;
  • Prepare and fill all documents related to activities (Work plans, Reports, data collection …) ;
  • Ensure that the M&E plan (indicators, timeline, etc.) is being well implemented;
  • Share relevant suggestions to improve M&E methodologies throughout the project duration.

The Focal Point may support additional tasks and carry other responsibilities that are not mentioned above, depending on the needs of the education and child protection programs. 

Qualifications and Skills:

  • At least two years’ experience in education, preferably in an NGO environment or educational setting
  • Bachelor’s degree in education, development or another social science 
  • Understanding of government institutions, particularly the public school
  • A demonstrated understanding of national development issues in particular in relation to children
  • Strength in interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills
  • Fluency in written and spoken Arabic and English
  • Strong documentation, research and report-writing skill
  • Knowledge and experience in child protection issues
  • Experience in community sensitization/ mobilization
  • Excellent computer skills.

Working hours: 6 days/ week
