JOB SUMMARY
The Assistant, Country Communications’ primary role is to support country team management in developing communications, media and grants materials, support interactions with the media and to facilitate communication flows to ensure that internal and external stakeholders receive the information they need quickly.

MAIN TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Document and show—through images, success stories and testimonies in written and photo/video format—the impact of IMC's work on beneficiary communities and partners.
• Visit sites and programs in the field regularly to collect success stories and testimonials.
• Ensure that written and informed consent from beneficiaries and other relevant stakeholders is obtained for publication.
• Monitor media trends and identify potential media opportunities, including suggesting media outlets and pitching stories. Support engagement with reporters.
• Support efforts around implementing social media plans, working closely with the country team and Global Communications team.
• Coordinate with external vendors, such as agencies and independent filmmakers and photographers, as appropriate.
• Support technical staff, as well as MEAL and Grants teams, in efforts to produce quality reports in a timely manner.
• Support branding of IMC field offices, staff emails, events and materials, in accordance with IMC guidelines and leading practices.
• Ensure that supplies and other visibility items (t-shirts, caps and other items) purchased with donor funds are marked in accordance with donor guidelines.
• Support technical staff and management and grantmaking teams in producing quality brochures, fliers, banners, etc., internal and external project communication.

Job Requirements
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
• Typically, a Bachelor's degree in communications, journalism, marketing or another relevant discipline is required. Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
• One to three years’ experience in corporate communications in a dynamic, fast-paced, high-volume work environment.
• Ability to work successfully and effectively as part of a team, as well as independently, in a multicultural and participatory environment.
• Solid computer skills, including the Microsoft Office suite. Familiarity with the design and production process.
• Experience with NGOs working in the humanitarian or development field is desirable.
• Strong photography and videography skills.
• Strong organizational and project-management skills; ability to oversee production of a high volume of quality work within tight timeframes, often including multiple simultaneous projects. High level of attention to detail.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills; ability to communicate effectively with people inside and outside of the organization, and to manage working relationships diplomatically. Proven experience in managing and implementing communications plans.
• Experience sourcing and managing content development and publishing.
• Proficiency in English, spoken and written. Additional language skills a plus.
Additional Technical or Language Requirements:
- A background in graphic design is desirable for this role.
