Emergency Distribution Monitor - North Lebanon and Akkar

DCL is currently seeking Emergency Distribution Monitors in North Lebanon and Akkar to support the monitoring of food/meal distribution to IDPs temporarily settled in North and Akkar.

 

The Emergency Distribution Monitor is responsible for ensuring accurate and efficient monitoring of meal distributions across assigned schools and shelters within North and Akkar. This role requires direct coordination with kitchens, truck drivers, and school or shelter focal points to verify meal counts, maintain distribution standards, and promptly address any logistical challenges. The Emergency Distribution Monitor provides essential feedback and detailed reports to the Emergency Project Coordinator, contributing to the success and compliance of meal distribution operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate with focal points at schools and shelters to confirm the exact daily meal counts needed, reporting any discrepancies to the Emergency Project Coordinator for timely adjustments and management of leftovers.
  • Liaise with truck drivers, ensuring adherence to the designated route from the kitchen to distribution sites, and maintain communication to accurately monitor delivery timing.
  • Inspect truck conditions upon arrival, assessing cleanliness, stacking, odor, and humidity, to ensure all distribution vehicles meet food safety standards.
  • Verify the proper loading and offloading of meals, confirming accuracy in quantities and recording data for reporting purposes.
  • Monitor meal distribution at shelters when possible, collecting informal feedback from internally displaced persons (IDPs), focal points, and shelter committees to identify any areas for operational improvement.
  • Submit daily reports detailing the number of meals received, distributed, any discrepancies, and observations from the field, following the Emergency Project Coordinator’s guidelines.
  • Actively address any logistical issues in real time by collaborating with kitchens, truck drivers, and school or shelter contacts, ensuring deliveries are completed accurately and in line with DCL standards.

  • Exceptional attention to detail to verify meal counts, monitor vehicle conditions, and ensure adherence to distribution protocols.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, enabling effective handling of multiple logistical elements and adherence to delivery schedules.
  • Clear and concise communication abilities for liaising with kitchens, drivers, and shelters, providing timely updates and reports to the Emergency Project Coordinator.
  • Adaptability to operate effectively in diverse field conditions, promptly addressing any unforeseen challenges during meal distribution.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 1-year relevant experience, or a recent graduate (e.g., Business Administration, Social Sciences, or Logistics) with a strong interest in humanitarian response.
  • High attention to detail for accurate monitoring and reporting
  • Basic computer proficiency, especially in spreadsheets and online reporting tools.
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Clear verbal and written communication skills
  • Availability and willingness to travel to various locations within North and Akkar for daily monitoring visits.
