Arabic Language Officer- Dirasa and Makani Projects

The UNICEF-funded Dirasa Program and Makani Program aim to provide out-of-school children with multiple, flexible pathways tailored to each child’s unique learning needs. These programs will be implemented in private and semi-private schools, as well as community centers. In addition to supporting out-of-school children, the programs will offer retention support for students already enrolled in schools.

The Arabic Officer is responsible for developing, implementing, and enhancing Arabic language programs and curriculum. This role includes creating educational content, training teachers, and ensuring that social and emotional learning elements are effectively integrated within the Arabic curriculum.

Main Responsibilities:

• The Arabic Officer should have a focus on primary school education in Arabic, be able to create scope and sequences, lesson plans, and classroom-based assessments, and have knowledge of national curriculum and policies for Arabic in Lebanon.
• The Arabic Officer will also work closely with the SEL Specialists to ensure social and emotional learning is embedded in the Arabic curriculum. The specialist will be able to:
• Co-develop scope and sequence for Arabic grades 1 – 6 based on international best practices and adapt scope and sequence to the Lebanese context
• Develop model lessons, using structured pedagogy that fit within the scope and sequence.
• Collaborate on locating Arabic resources and e- resources for primary grades students and teachers
• Embed elements of social and emotional learning into model lesson plans.
• Perform other responsibilities as assigned

Required Qualifications:

• Excellent spoken and written Arabic
• Knowledge of national Arabic curriculum and policies in Arabic
• Knowledge of classroom-based assessment systems
• Fluent in Arabic, knowledge of English is an advantage
• Able to travel in Lebanon for conferences, meetings, training & school visits.
