French Language Officer- Dirasa and Makani Projects

The UNICEF-funded Dirasa Program and Makani Program aim to provide multiple, flexible pathways for out-of-school children that respond to each child’s unique learning needs. These programs will be implemented in private and semi-private schools, as well as community centers, targeting out-of-school children and offering retention support for students already enrolled in schools.

The French Officer is responsible for developing, implementing, and enhancing French language programs and curriculum. This includes creating educational content, training teachers, and ensuring the integration of social and emotional learning elements within the French curriculum.

Main Responsibilities:

• The French Officer should have a focus on primary school education in French, be able to create scope and sequences, lesson plans, and classroom-based assessments, and have knowledge of national curriculum and policies for French in Lebanon.
• The French Officer will also work closely with the SEL Specialists to ensure social and emotional learning is embedded in the French curriculum. The specialist will be able to:
• Co-develop scope and sequence for French grades 1 – 6 based on international best practices and adapt scope and sequence to the Lebanese context
• Develop model lessons, using structured pedagogy that fit within the scope and sequence.
• Collaborate on locating French resources and e- resources for primary grades students and teachers
• Embed elements of social and emotional learning into model lesson plans.
• Perform other responsibilities as assigned

Required Qualifications:

• Excellent spoken and written French
• Knowledge of national French curriculum and policies in French
• Knowledge of classroom-based assessment systems
• Fluent in French, knowledge of Arabic is an advantage
• Able to travel in Lebanon and outside of the country for conferences/meetings
• Ability to work on multiple tasks and flexibility with project demands
