FIELD OFFICER - SOUTH

PRESENTATION OF THE ORGANIZATION

SOLIDARITES INTERNATIONAL (SI) is an international humanitarian NGO which, for more than 40 years, has been providing assistance to populations affected by armed conflicts and natural disasters by meeting their vital needs for food, water and shelter. Particularly involved in the fight against diseases linked to unsafe water, the first cause of death in the world, SI's interventions provide expertise in the field of access to drinking water, sanitation and hygiene promotion, but also in the essential area of food security and livelihoods. Present in around twenty countries, SI's teams - 2000 people in total made up of expatriates, national staff, permanent staff at headquarters, and a few volunteers - work with professionalism and commitment while respecting cultures.

Solidarités International (SI) is determined to prevent and fight all type of abuse – all act of exploitation, abuse and/or sexual harassment (SEAH) against members of beneficiary communities or collaborators, fraud, corruption, violation of persons and/or property, funding of activities harmful to human rights – that could be perpetrated in the frame of its interventions. SI implements a zero-tolerance policy regarding acts of SEAH.

DESCRIPTION OF THE POSITION

A- Coordinating with public and technical authorities

  • Liaise with municipalit(ies)y, DRR and LRC focal points to follow up on humanitarian situation in the area
  • Liaise with municipalit(ies)y, DRR and LRC focal points to organise the implementation of SI activities in the areas
  • Ensure dissemination and respect of humanitarian principles

 

B- Humanitarian Watch

  • Collect accurate data at community level and conduct different assessment and surveys based on the needs
  • Conduct rapid or regular needs assessment by filling relevant forms or conducting key informants’ meetings or focus group discussions
  • Engage in internal and external referral

 

C- Implementation of Humanitarian Activities

  • Ensure reception, proper storage and security of all items to be distributed to beneficiaries
  • In link with local authorities organise all steps of items distribution process
  • Implement or supervise the implementation of any activity of SI in the area
  • Under the responsibility of the line manager, take part in logistical and administrative organization, planning, and preparation of distributions.

 

D- Community Outreach

  • Facilitate, build up and maintain good relationships with the beneficiaries
  • Provide to the beneficiaries, public authorities or other relevant external stakeholders information about SI mandate, activities, results and about external actors and represent SI when necessary

 

E- Reporting

  • Keep his/her monitoring tools and files properly archived in SI work environment, accessible to his/her line manager.
  • Report to his/her line manager, PM regarding the development of activities and specific tasks that he/she has been assigned, any problems encountered and the quality of relations with the beneficiaries
  • Share with the line manager, PM and the security focal point all relevant information about security, activities, logistics or administrative issues occurred at field level, using Solidarités International’s tools and procedures
  • Maintain an accurate reporting, data management of the activities, incidents, achievements, referrals, information, etc. and report monitoring results.

 

The field officer may be asked to drive SI cars and respect the driving policies set by the logistics department.

The above list is a non-exhaustive one, nor limitative. You could be asked other responsibilities and tasks within the framework of your job on demand of the direct line manager.

 

SI WILL OFFER YOU

A salaried post: 1,325 as basic salary

Vacation : 1.75 paid leave per month
