Project Description:

Empowering Local Systems in Agriculture (ELSA) is a 5-year project funded by USAID under Farmer-to-Farmer Leader Award. ELSA aims to establish sustainable local systems that provide affordable and consistently available agricultural inputs and create inclusive market channels in the agricultural sector. To achieve this, ELSA will build implementing partners’ capacity and provide direct technical assistance (TA) to input suppliers to improve input distribution and agribusinesses' market access. Venture37 will supplement this TA with co-investment grants for selected agribusinesses to reduce the risk of their investments. 

 Position Summary and Primary Responsibility 

The driver will be responsible for providing vehicle transportation services for Land O’Lakes Venture 37 employees, visitors, and designated partners in town and within projects sites. This position is responsible for passenger safety. In addition to driving staff, the individual will be called upon to perform errands as directed. This position will also monitor equipment and perform limited maintenance.

• Drive the project vehicles on scheduled and approved routes
• Perform routine vehicle inspection and maintenance including checking the oil, fuel, brakes, lights, windshield wipers and water and tire pressures
• Read and understand specific vehicle operating manuals and is able to operate every device in the vehicle
• Ensure that the Vehicle Logbook is properly recorded and maintained
• Liaise with the Administrative Assistant to ensure the Project Vehicle Road License and Insurance Policy are up to date
• Provide information and other general assistance to the LOL staff, visitors, and designated partners
• Keep assigned vehicle clean inside and outside
• Maintain accurate, up to date records and other records that are requested from management
• Perform minor maintenance tasks on assigned vehicles as required
• Coordinate the schedule for major or periodic vehicle maintenance with management and staff to minimize service interruptions
• Offer suggestions to the Management Team on how to further increase the efficiency of the vehicle operations with the aim of reducing costs with little to no impacts on vehicle operations
• Complete and submit in a timely basis incident and all supporting reports in accordance with the policies of Land O’Lakes
• Offer suggestions to the Management Team on how to improve the program
• Other duties as assigned

Reporting & Supervision:

This position reports to the Deputy Chief of Party.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

Local candidates with the following qualifications are strongly encouraged to apply:

• Minimum of 3 years of experience in a similar position
• Ability to drive a multi-passenger vehicle safely and appropriately in accordance with the laws of Lebanon and policies of the organization
• Ability to read and interpret road signs
• Ability to communicate effectively in both English and Arabic (orally and written)
• Ability to prepare concise and accurate records and reports
• Extensive knowledge of the operations and features of assigned vehicle(s)
• Ability to recognize vehicle maintenance needs and perform minor vehicle repairs
• Ability to establish effective professional relationships with program staff
• Defensive Driving Certificate desired
