Scope of Work
The consultant will be responsible for:
- Training and Capacity Building
- Design and deliver tailored 6 training days (3 topics and 4.5 hour each day) total of 18 sessions as a common training on sustainable agriculture, agroforestry, and green technology for approximately 30-40 farmers. `
- Develop and deliver 2 training days (3 topics/ day and 1.5 hour each) total 6 sessions will focus on the symbiotic relationships between trees, crops and animal components covering planting techniques, and ecological benefits, and environmental sustainability for the selected 20 farmers.
- Develop and deliver 1 day training (2 topic and 1.5 hour each) total 2 sessions as common training for agroforestry and beekeeper with focus on integration of beekeeping in the agroforestry system.
- Conduct 2 days on-site training for the 10 farmers.
3.2 Coaching:
Conduct on-site (3 visits per month) for follow-up and reporting for the assurance of implementing the agroforestry practices and design.
- Provide ongoing technical support to farmers, addressing their questions and challenges as they implement beekeeping practices on their farms.
Integration of agroforestry:
- Assess selected farms for their suitability to incorporate agroforestry.
- Develop farm-specific designs that blend trees, crops, and livestock to maximize productivity and sustainability.
Technical Assistance in Sustainable Practices:
As a follow up, the agriculture engineer will offer training and guidance on:
- Irrigation Management: Promote water-efficient techniques like drip irrigation to combat water scarcity.
- Soil Health: Introduce composting, mulching, and organic fertilizers to enhance soil fertility.
- Crop Management: Encourage crop rotation, pest control using eco-friendly methods, and optimized planting strategies
3.3 Monitoring and Evaluation
- Conduct pre- and post-training assessments to measure knowledge improvement and track progress in agroforestry practices.
- Conduct periodic assessments and provide improvement recommendations for agroforestry clusters to ensure they meet sustainability and productivity goals.
- Responsible for managing the attendance list to ensure accurate records of participant engagement during training sessions.
3.4 Knowledge Transfer and Reporting
- Document training materials, assessment findings, and technical recommendations for Green Hand Organization and GIZ records.
- Provide monthly progress reports, summarizing activities, achievements, challenges, and future recommendations.
- Deliver a final report at the end of the contract period, including an assessment of project impact, lessons learned, and recommendations for future programming.
