Livelihoods Field Technical Assistant - North

Summary:

Under the supervision of the Civil Engineer, The Technical Field Assistant will provide hands-on support for civil and agriculture engineering, focusing on land preparation, irrigation systems, and small-scale construction works. This role involves monitoring field activities, offering technical assistance, collecting data, and ensuring compliance with technical standards and safety regulations. The position requires extensive fieldwork and movement in the North area. 

Key Responsibilities        

Implementation: 

  • Assist in supervising and monitoring civil and agricultural engineering activities, such as land preparation, irrigation system installations, and small-scale construction works. 
  • Ensure that project activities are implemented according to technical designs, quality standards, and safety guidelines. 
  • Conduct regular site visits to assess progress and identify potential challenges. 

Technical Assistance

  • Provide technical support to the RI engineers, contractors, and community members involved in the projects. 
  • Assist in interpreting engineering designs and specifications on-site. 
  • Address on-site queries or concerns in coordination with the technical and field team.  
  • Collaborate with local communities, farmers, and municipalities to ensure their understanding and participation in project activities. 
  • Support the preparation and distribution of technical guidelines, BoQs, and drawings. 

Data collection and Reporting 

  • Collect field data, including measurements, progress updates, and feedback from beneficiaries. 
  • Assist in preparing daily, weekly, and monthly progress reports. 
  • Document and report challenges, delays, or deviations from project plans. 

Compliance and Quality control:

  • Ensure all field activities comply with environmental and safety regulations. 
  • Conduct inspections to verify the quality of materials and work done by contractors. 
  • Identify and report any need for design modifications or corrective actions. 
  • Perform any other related duties assigned by the supervisor to contribute to program success.
