Livelihoods Field Assistant - North

Position Summary:

The Sustainable Fodder Production for Livestock Resilience in Akkar project, funded by the UN World Food Program and implemented by Relief International (RI), aims to enhance the resilience and livelihoods of small-scale livestock farmers in Akkar., North Lebanon. The project focuses on improving fodder production through land reclamation, developing irrigation infrastructure, and introducing high-nutritious animal feed and climate-resilient fodder crops. It also promotes gender equity and economic inclusion.

Key responsibilities  

1- Implementation:  

  • Lead outreach initiatives to engage and inform potential beneficiaries about project opportunities and services.  
  •  Conduct regular field visits to monitor farming activities, identify challenges, and report them to the Livelihoods Field Officer.  
  • Assist in facilitating the establishment and coordination of farmer groups or clusters to promote resource sharing and collective decision-making.  
  • Support the delivery of tools, seeds, and other resources to farmers as needed.  

2 - Coordination:  

  • Participate in meetings and discussions with stakeholders as requested by the Livelihoods Field Officer.  
  • Support the coordination of activities with other field staff to ensure smooth operations and effective resource use.  
  • Actively engage women farmers to encourage their participation in agricultural activities and ensure their inclusion in all project components.  
  • Assist in organizing awareness sessions, capacity-building activities, and training programs for farmers, particularly focusing on the needs of women.  

3 - Data collection and Reporting  

  • Assist in collecting data and other information needed to monitor project progress and evaluate impact.  
  • Maintain accurate records of activities, beneficiaries, and resources distributed, ensuring confidentiality and accuracy.  
  • Prepare brief daily and weekly field reports for submission to the Livelihoods Field Officer.  
  • Safely identify people of concern reporting needs for services and share requests with the Livelihoods Officer for required referrals. 

4- Perform any other related duties assigned by the supervisor to contribute to program success.
