Social Behavioral Change and communication Expert

Areas of Responsibility:

General objective of the job:

The SBC Expert will design and help AND implement a communication strategy for social behavioral change and communication interventions that aims to modify harmful social norms and attitudes related to vaccination, health services and overall community engagement with selected Private health Care Centers (PHCCs). The Expert will provide training to AND team and PHCCs team members to help them identify and address the underlying barriers that prevent marginalized populations from fully benefiting from PHCC services.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Design and assist in conducting qualitative assessment and analysis of the findings with respect to the communities’ perceptions of the services of PHCCs.
  • Design and assist in the dissemination of key messages to be communicated to targeted communities.
  • Design and provide training on basics of community engagement and community-based feedback mechanism taking into account findings from above mentioned assessment.
  • Provide technical assistance and expertise in Social Behavioral Change and communication (SBC) to support AND team and PHCCs team members understand the main issues hindering the communities’ participation and their challenges vis-a vis routine communization.
  • Engage, Integrate and Provide strategic direction for SBC approaches across the healthcare centers staff to define common strategies and implementation plans
  • Develop evidence-based SBC interventions that aim to modify harmful social norms and attitudes through the training program.
  • Design and assist in the dissemination of key messages to be communicated to targeted communities.
  • Design and provide training on basics of community engagement and community-based feedback mechanism taking into account findings from above mentioned assessment.
  • Help AND team members and PHCC teams in designing individual community engagement plans including SBC initiatives.
  • Identify areas for improvement and make recommendations for changes.
  • Advocate for the integration of SBC into all aspects of their community engagement and feedback mechanism.

Position Requirements and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Psychology, Anthropology, Sociology, Public Health, C
  • Communication, or a related field (preferably Master’s degree).
  • Minimum of 2 - 3 years' relevant experience in design and training delivery.
  • At least 3 years of experience working on Social Behavior Change programming.
  • Ability to engage with community members in an open manner, maintain confidentiality and respect.
  • Positive and professional attitude, able to organize.
  • Strong understanding of Social Behavior Change theory and methodology.
  • Experience conducting Social Behavior Change assessments and analysis.

Deliverables

The provider of services shall be responsible for the following deliverables.

  • Training Syllabus and timetable
  • Materials used throughout the workshop and training curriculum.
  • Training logistics (attendance sheet, record keeping…).
  • Total cost including number of hours and/or days + cost per hours and/or day.
  • Appraisal by the end of the training with further recommendations.

Reporting

The trainer shall report to the project manager.

Familiarization with, and adherence to, the Code of Conduct is an essential requirement of all staff, in addition to related mandatory training. All staff must ensure that they understand and act in accordance with this clause.
