Overview:

Founded in 1994, La Chaîne de l’Espoir (CDE) is an international NGO headquartered in Paris, France. Its mission is to strengthen healthcare systems and provide everyone, especially children, equal chances and opportunities for survival and development.

In Lebanon, La Chaîne de l’Espoir focuses on providing specialized secondary healthcare services to children with congenital anomalies.

 

Currently, we have a project titled "Enhancing Pediatric Healthcare," funded by ECHO. The overall goal of the project is to contribute to improving the health and well-being of the population living in Lebanon by strengthening the healthcare system and the capacities of health actors involved in the prevention, screening, and management of ailments. Specifically, the project aims to:

  • Raise awareness among community members about life-threatening diseases affecting newborns and children.
  • Strengthen the capabilities of medical and support staff in identifying and referring to life-threatening conditions in newborns and children.
  • Provide selected life-saving and life-changing surgical procedures for newborns and children, ensuring they receive high-quality, comprehensive medical care.
  • Improve the mental and social health of children and their caregivers.

The projects team is preparing for awareness campaigns and early detection campaigns in different districts in Lebanon and is looking for the support of a local outreach worker.

The Outreach Worker is responsible for the following:  

  • Identify and conduct community outreach activities to identify vulnerable population for the awareness sessions in the targeted region. By developing a clear and detailed outreach plan.
  • Identify and Map active key stockholders in the regions: associations, local authorities, community influencers, mayors, Informal Tented Settlements (ITs)etc... in the outreach area.
  • Coordinate and collaborate with the active key stockholders previously identified for the purpose of community outreach campaigns implementation.
  • Lead the implementation of the outreach plan developed and approved by the Project Assistant.
  • Register beneficiaries interested in awareness campaigns and maintaining accurate and up-to-date records of the beneficiaries' information required for the awareness campaign.
  • Follow up with registered beneficiaries to confirm their participation in the awareness campaign and provide them with all the information and details about the campaign (location and time).
  • Provide daily progress reports to the project assistant (meetings, number of completed forms, challenges, and any details related to the implementation of the awareness campaign).
  • Assist in identifying a room or location for conducting awareness sessions, along with determining all available and required logistics.
  • Be present during the implementation of the awareness campaign to support the logistical preparations for the event (ensuring the readiness of the room, communicating with registered individuals to remind and confirm their attendance), in addition to filling out the attendance sheet, distributing pre-and post-evaluations to the attendees, and other requirements if needed.
  • Maintain high ethical standards and promote positive relationships with the community.
  • Attending a one-day training course with the PA (Project Assistant) to ensure a good understanding of the role and responsibilities and being aware of CDE code of conduct and policies.

  • Report any feedback and complaints from the field to the CDE team. Additionally, promptly report any observed misconduct to the focal point in CDE as per the referral and complaint mechanism.
  • Ensure confidentiality and privacy with sensitive personal information.

Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

Knowledge:

  • Good knowledge in data entry and familiar with Microsoft office tools and Kobo.
  • Knowledge of the implementation areas and their context.
  • Previous experience in social work.
  • Previous experience in conducting community outreach activities.
  • Previous experience in working with NGOs is an asset.

Skills:

  • Good organizational and documentation management skills.
  • Experience in community mobilization and outreach.
  • Effective communication, both verbally and in writing.
  • Solution-oriented and able to develop alternative plans to ensure the success of the campaign.

Abilities:

  • Ability to read and write in Arabic.
  • Ability to deal with disruptive behavior ensuring conflict resolution.
  • Ability to work within a team and independently.
  • Access to a vehicle or ability to move in the implementation areas.
  • Ability to apply humanitarian values of tolerance and respect between different communities in everyday practice.
