Enumerators for agricultural assessment

Background

Mada is seeking qualified Enumerators to assist with agricultural assessments conducted on-site and via phone calls in Akkar, with a focus on the areas of Bebnine, Fneidek, Mechmech, Tal Hayat, Mohammara, Akkar Al-Attika, and Daouret Akkar. These assessments are part under the project entitled “Strengthening the Resilience of Vulnerable Women, Young Adults, and Men in Lebanon through Livelihood Improvement and Increased Food Security” funded by the German Cooperation (BMZ) and implemented by Mada Association in partnership with arche noVa.

The project supports the transition to agroecology and improve access to food by strengthening the resilience of vulnerable women, young adults and men in Lebanon by improving livelihoods and increasing food security. The project aims to build a more resilient, economically stable, and food secure communities in the project regions by addressing livelihood and food security challenges through a comprehensive approach.

Main Tasks and Responsibilities

The Enumerators will be in charge of collecting data across specific locations in Akkar with a focus on the areas of Bebnine, Fneidek, Mechmech, Tal Hayat, Mohammara, Akkar Al-Attika, and Daouret Akkar from smallholder farmers. Four enumerators will be recruited to conduct on-field and door-to-door agricultural assessments. Each enumerator will be hired for an average of 10 days.

The Enumerators report directly to the Project Manager.

Main Tasks

  • Induction and training: Attend an induction meeting with Mada’s MEAL Manager and participate in a session on clean data collection and proper communication with stakeholders and beneficiaries, ensuring adherence to Mada’s code of ethics and PSEA policies.
  • Field assessments: Conduct on-field agricultural assessment with possibility of field-visits, filling out surveys with smallhodler farmers to collect accurate data.
  • Reporting and updates: Collaborate with the Project Manager on the progress of data collection and any challenges faced during the process (daily updates).
  • Data verification: Conduct phone calls to verify collected data when necessary. If further validation is required, conduct additional field visits for validation purposes.
  • Data submission: Submit accurate and complete data within specified timelines, adhering to quality standards in data collection.

Minimum Qualification and Experience

  • Full adherence to Mada’s mission and vision, as well as Ethics Code and PSEA policies
  • Previous experience in data collection (familiarity with Kobo App preferred)
  • Previous experience in conducting agricultural assessments, a degree in agriculture is a plus.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Fluent in Arabic, good level of English
  • Able to use a personal car and having a driving license.
  • Able to use his phone number for conducting assessments, when needed.
