Hariri Foundation (HF) 

The Hariri Foundation for Sustainable Human Development is a Lebanese non-governmental organization with special consultative status in the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC). The Hariri Foundation is dedicated to sustainable development across various sectors, including Education & Digital Transformation, Socioeconomic Development, Active Citizenship, Sustainability & Climate Action, and Public Health & Wellbeing. HF operates in partnership with stakeholders to promote citizen engagement, social cohesion, and community resilience. 

Position Overview 

The Journalist/Reporter will be responsible for producing accurate, well-researched, and engaging news reports on key development topics, including health, economy, environment, and education. The role involves on-the-ground reporting, collaboration with editorial and multimedia teams, and ensuring content meets professional journalism standards.

Key Responsibilities:

Content Production

  •  Produce news articles, features, and reports aligned with Enmaeya’s editorial strategy.
  •  Monitor global developments relevant to the platform’s focus areas.
  •  Conduct interviews with experts and thought leaders across development sectors.
  •  Cover local and international events and translate insights into timely reports and analysis.
  •  Compile relevant policy papers, research, and commentary for the “Enmaeya Analysis” section.
  •  Partner with researchers and sector leads to develop investigative and feature content.
  •  Collaborate with the marketing team to support multimedia storytelling (videos, infographics, etc.).

 Report from the field as needed, covering events, community initiatives, or sector-specific developments across various locations.

Collaboration & Coordination

  •  Coordinate with editors, researchers, and communications to ensure seamless content workflows.
  •  Attend editorial meetings and contribute pitches, story leads, and sectoral trends.

 

Required Qualifications and Experience 

A. Essential Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Communications, Political Science, or a related field. Master’s degree is a plus. 
  • Proven 5+ years (with a Bachelor’s degree) or 3+ years (with Master’s degree) of experience in journalism/reporting, specifically in development, health, economy, environment, or education. 
  • Strong writing, editing, and interviewing skills in both English and Arabic. The candidate must be fluent in both English and Arabic. 
  • Experience in investigative journalism and ability to cross-check and validate news sources. 
  • Ability to travel for field assignments and cover stories from different locations. 
  • Familiarity with multimedia reporting (photography, video, and social media journalism). 
  • Strong research skills and ability to analyze complex topics for broad audiences.

B. Desirable Qualifications:

  • Experience working with NGOs, think tanks, or development agencies. 
  • Familiarity with data journalism and use of infographics in reporting. 
  • Background in covering international development issues and policies. 
  • Knowledge of digital journalism tools and content management systems (CMS). 

Competencies 

  • Bilingual: Fluency in Arabic and English (written and spoken) is required.
  • Strong journalistic writing and reporting skills in English—this is the primary working language for content production.
  • Minimum of 3–4 years of experience in development journalism, with a focus on at least one or more of the following sectors: education, environment, economy, or health.
  • Demonstrated ability to research, write, and edit news and feature articles aligned with editorial direction.
  • Experience interviewing experts, policymakers, or practitioners in development-related fields.
  • Solid understanding of international development trends, organizations, and sector-specific policy debates.
  • Familiarity with multimedia storytelling formats (audio, video, visual) is a plus
