Background:
forumZFD Lebanon is dedicated to fostering positive peace and promoting nonviolent conflict transformation among citizens and residents of Lebanon. One of its key approaches is community mobilization, which brings together people from diverse backgrounds to enhance civic engagement, constructive dialogue, and peaceful coexistence, particularly in multicultural communities and areas of tension.
Despite its potential, the integration of sports into community mobilization and conflict transformation remains underutilized in Lebanon, with limited resources dedicated to this approach. As the project expands to new partners and communities, the demand for additional support is greater than in previous phases, highlighting the need for specialized expertise and strategic guidance.
Context
The Sport for Peace project in Lebanon harnesses the power of sports to foster peacebuilding and social integration, especially among marginalized communities. Inspired by successful global initiatives, the program provides youth, parents, schools, and sports clubs with opportunities to connect, build friendships, and break social barriers through sports.
By promoting tolerance, respect, and fair play, the initiative nurtures personal and social skills essential for peaceful coexistence. Through engaging activities, participants develop a sense of belonging, reinforcing understanding and cooperation across diverse backgrounds.
