Advocacy & Research Officer

Established in 2023, the SSE Task Force was created to advance social entrepreneurship in Lebanon amid ongoing social, economic, and environmental challenges. This collaborative initiative unites key stakeholders to address the challenges faced by social enterprises and strengthen the SSE ecosystem. The task force was initially supported by the SEE CHANGE project, previously funded by the European Union and implemented by a consortium including Oxfam, COSV, and Beyond Group. The Task Force operates through four committees—Program, Legal, Fundraising, and Communication—each dedicated to specific objectives and co-leads key deliverable, all contributing to the strengthening of the SSE ecosystem in Lebanon.

 

The SSE Task Force works on implementing the SSE Ecosystem Advocacy & Action Plan (EAAP), which focuses on:

  • Establishing a national network of social enterprises
  • Engaging in policy advocacy efforts with government and private stakeholders
  • Strengthening the SSE ecosystem through collaborative initiatives

About the Role

LSE is seeking an Advocacy & Research Officer to facilitate the development of the EAAP through the provision of support on social entrepreneurship legal framework-related tasks as requested by the Legal Committee focal point. The support will ensure that the SSE Task Force can effectively advocate for policies that promote the sustainability and impact of social enterprises. The Advocacy and Research officer works on assigned tasks under the supervision of the legal committee focal point. They work closely with the focal point and support other members of the legal committee conducting legal research, preparing summaries of comparative studies, legislative developments and other legal information as well as updating the task force databases. The officer is also responsible for the preparation of minutes and presentations.

 

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the Execution of the EAAP ( Ecosystem Action and Advocacy Plan)
  • Assist the Legal Committee Focal Point and in any matter regarding the advocacy strategy.
  • Develop advocacy materials, including research papers and policy documents, and presentations.
  • Support the updating of data analyses and research reviews upon request.

 

  • Facilitate Internal Coordination for Advocacy Efforts
  • Compile research, reports, and legal committee inputs for review by the focal point and internal dissemination.
  • Draft meeting minutes and reports for both internal and external advocacy-related discussions.
  • Participate in Task Force meetings when required to support the execution of advocacy activities.
  • Collaborate with the Task Force Communications Officer to ensure advocacy messages are integrated into the Task Force’s communications strategy.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Law, Political Science, Public Policy, International Relations, or a related field.
  • At least 2-3 years of experience in advocacy, policy development, legal research, or stakeholder engagement.
  • Experience working in social enterprises, NGOs, international organizations, or policy/advocacy-related roles.
  • Knowledge of Lebanon’s legal, political, and social landscape, particularly in areas related to social enterprises or economic policies
  • Strong research and analytical skills, with the ability to develop policy papers, reports, and advocacy strategies.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and Arabic.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams, including legal experts, communications teams, and internal partners.
