Part-Time Music Therapist

The music therapist will work on a part time basis including:

Key Responsibilities:

Therapeutic Interventions:

Design and implement music therapy sessions tailored to the specific emotional and psychological needs of children in the PSS program.

Utilize various music therapy techniques such as improvisation, composition, and receptive listening to achieve therapeutic goals.

Assessment and Evaluation:

Conduct initial assessments to determine the needs and capabilities of each child.

Continuously evaluate the progress of each child and adjust therapeutic interventions accordingly.

Document and report on the progress and outcomes of therapy sessions.

Collaboration:

Work closely with other PSS team members, including psychologists, social workers, and educators, to develop comprehensive care plans.

Collaborate with parents and caregivers to extend therapeutic activities and support beyond the therapy sessions.

Program Development:

Develop and update music therapy curriculum and materials.

Stay informed about the latest research and developments in the field of music therapy and integrate new techniques and approaches into the program.

Training and Education:

Provide training and support to other staff members on the use of music therapy techniques and the role of music therapy in psychosocial support.

Conduct workshops and informational sessions for parents and caregivers to educate them on the benefits of music therapy.

Resource Management:

Manage and maintain musical instruments and equipment used in therapy sessions.

Ensure the proper use and care of all materials and resources.

Cultural Sensitivity:

Design and conduct therapy sessions that are culturally sensitive and appropriate for the diverse population served by Just.Childhood.

Respect and incorporate the cultural backgrounds and traditions of the children into therapy sessions.

Advocacy and Outreach:

Advocate for the importance of music therapy within the community and among stakeholders.

Participate in community outreach programs to promote the benefits of the PSS program and music therapy.

Ethical Practice:

Adhere to ethical guidelines and professional standards in all aspects of practice.

Ensure confidentiality and the protection of children’s rights and well-being at all times.

Administrative Duties:

Maintain accurate records of therapy sessions, assessments, and progress reports.

Prepare and submit regular reports to program supervisors and funders as required.

 

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS required to perform the duties of the post:

a) EDUCATION:

Degree/Certification Music Therapy

b) WORK EXPERIENCE:

At least 3 years of professional experience in mucis therapy.

c) LANGUAGES

 Fluency in English and Arabic (verbal and written).

d) REQUIRED SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES:
