Senior Area Monitor

Under WFP's School Feeding 2024-2025 Programme, DCL is looking for a full time "Senior Area Monitor" in Akkar Area.

Job Overview

The Area Monitor is responsible for overseeing the distribution of healthy meals to children in assigned schools. This includes supervising multiple schools, conducting regular visits, coordinating meal orders, and ensuring compliance with the WFP school feeding program guidelines. The Area Monitor will report directly to the Area Coordinator and ensure the smooth operation of the program within the designated geographical area. This role is crucial in ensuring the program runs effectively, supporting the nutritional needs of students while maintaining program compliance and quality.

Key Responsibilities:

  • School Monitoring: Regularly visit and monitor assigned schools to ensure compliance with the WFP school feeding program guidelines, including verifying the quality and distribution of meals.
  • Meal Orders: Coordinate with school staff to facilitate timely and accurate meal orders, ensuring they meet the program’s nutritional requirements and schedules.
  • Data Collection & Reporting: Collect and maintain accurate data on student participation, inventory, and any challenges. Provide regular updates and reports to the Area Coordinator.
  • Communication: Maintain effective communication with school authorities, teachers, and other stakeholders to ensure the smooth operation of the program and address any issues.
  • Problem-Solving: Identify challenges or issues and work with the Area Coordinator to find solutions to ensure the program’s success.
  • Adherence to Guidelines: Ensure that the program is executed in full compliance with WFP guidelines, quality standards, and nutritional requirements.
  • Team Collaboration: Collaborate with other Area Monitors and Project Team members to share best practices, challenges, and insights to support continuous program improvement.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; a Bachelor's degree in a related field is an advantage.
  • 2-3 years of relevant experience in project monitoring, management, or school programs, preferably within an NGO or humanitarian setting.
  •  Fluency in both English and Arabic is required.
  • A valid driver’s license and personal vehicle are necessary.
  • MS Office proficiency (Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.)
  • Strong organizational, data collection, and analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders.
  • Ability to problem-solve, multitask, and work under pressure while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
  • Knowledge of the North Lebanon and/or Akkar regions is an advantage.
  • A commitment to the mission of the WFP school snacks program, and adherence to DCL’s code of conduct, values, and policies.
