Key Responsibilities
Community Engagement & Protection
- Conduct community needs assessments, including Household Needs and Situation Assessments and regular service mapping.
- Facilitate Focus Group Discussions (FGDs) to better understand community concerns.
- Build strong relationships with children, families, and community leaders through outreach efforts.
- Monitor local protection risks and refer vulnerable children facing protection concerns to specialized Child Protection services.
- Accompany children and families to services when needed.
- Provide parenting support to caregivers and extended family members.
- Act as a community focal point—a trusted resource where children and parents can safely report cases of abuse, seek help, and access support services.
Health & Nutrition
- Organize and deliver bi-weekly awareness sessions for parents and caregivers on health and nutrition topics.
- Coordinate with Primary Health Centers (PHCs) in the area, linking the community to available services and raising awareness of their offerings.
- Refer mothers with maternal health challenges to PHCs and Infant & Young Child Feeding (IYCF) specialists for support.
- Direct women experiencing breastfeeding difficulties to lactation specialists.
- Refer children aged 6–59 months to nutrition partners for micronutrient supplementation.
- Conduct weekly awareness sessions for children (ages 6–18) on topics such as healthy well-being, diet, obesity, physical activity, and immunization.
- Coordinate with Health & Nutrition (H&N) organizations to conduct workshops and interactive sessions.
- Work alongside the youth facilitator to implement youth-led health and nutrition initiatives at the centers.
Qualifications & Skills
The Community Care Worker should have a degree in social work, sociology, or health and relevant experience working with children. Suitable profiles include teachers, primary health care workers, or professionals with expertise in child protection.
Candidates should have:
- Strong public speaking and communication skills.
- Familiarity with the target area, including local community dynamics, public and private stakeholders, and vulnerable populations.
- Knowledge of Child Protection minimum standards, safe identification and referrals, Health & Nutrition, and QUDWA (training will be provided).
