Particularly involved in the fight against diseases linked to unsafe water, the first cause of death in the world, SI's interventions provide expertise in the field of access to drinking water, sanitation and hygiene promotion, but also in the essential area of food security and livelihoods. Present in around twenty countries, SI's teams - 2000 people in total made up of expatriates, national staff, permanent staff at headquarters, and a few volunteers - work with professionalism and commitment while respecting cultures.

Mission:

Goal / Purpose:

The Construction Officer (CO) will organize and follow up the implementation of SI consortial activities. Under the coordination and guidance of Shelter Supervisor (Sh. Supervisor) he/she  will practically ensure the completion, compliance and  adherence of said consortial activities (Shelter rehabilitation and minor repairs, purposed cash provision, emergency response).

Evaluation / diagnostic:

  • Collect accurate data at community level and conduct different assessment and surveys

 

Implementation and operational monitoring

  • Organize and carry out field activities, including but not limiting:
    • Organize and monitor the rehabilitation/repair works, done in self‑help or by contractor
    • Report regularly and timely about works progress; as well as flag immediately to Sh. supervisor any potential problem and risk for the successful completion of the activities
    • Organize, follow‑up and monitor the provision of purposed cash assistance (cash for rent)
    • Organize and follow‑up trainings for communities and beneficiaries, when necessary
  • Collaborate with Protection and Community Engagement Team to ensure Protection mainstreaming within SI activities, as well as for an effective participation and inclusion of targeted communities
  • Under supervision of Sh. TL, ensure the regular flow of information among consortium partners, conducive to an efficient referral, monitoring and follow up
  • If requested by Sh. TL and under his/her supervision, organize and implement the provision of cash assistance for beneficiaries.
  •  If requested by Sh. Supervisor support the Shelter team in providing emergency assistance (through distribution of emergency kits)

 

Reporting

  • Keep his/her monitoring tools and files archived in the Solidarités office, accessible to Sh. Supervisor
  • Report to Supervisor regarding the development of activities and specific tasks that he/she has been assigned, any problems encountered and the quality of relations with the beneficiaries
  • Share with the Sh. supervisor and the security focal point all relevant information about security, activities, logistics or administrative issues occurred at field level, using Solidarités International’s tools and procedures
  • Maintain an accurate reporting, data management of the activities, incidents, achievements, referrals, information, etc. and report monitoring results.

 

Communication / representation / coordination

  • Give information to the beneficiaries about SI mandate, activities, results and about external actors and represent SOLIDARITES INTERNATIONAL when necessary
  • Facilitate, build up and maintain good relationships with the beneficiaries. 
  • Participate in the mitigation of problems between communities when they arise
  • Communicate with other SI activities and departments for the daily activities

 

The CO may be asked to drive SI cars and respecting the driving policies set by the logistic department.

A salaried post : 1325  USD as basic salary + COLA +  transport + phone allowance
