Bus Driver REF#2-4425

Akkar Network for Development (AND) has been working in Akkar for the last 13 years with women, youth and local authorities to promote the well-being of the community. AND currently manages a dual portfolio of relief and development activities in Akkar with projects ranging from social stability, protection, education, and governance initiatives aiming to improve the daily lives of women and children, along with youth empowerment, CP, GBV, Education and good governance. 

In addition to other interventions in the area, AND is currently working on child protection, especially in the most deprived areas of Akkar, by providing education support, extra-curricular activities, and psychosocial interventions.

Areas of Responsibility:  

General objective of the job

• Provide transportation for the children to the center from their houses and/or any assembly point to attend their classes, after coordinating with the outreach workers.
• Drive in a safe, timely and controlled manner.
• Obey all traffic laws.
• Always maintain a clean and mechanically sound bus.
• Ensure the safety of the children.
• Assist the children with getting on and off the bus as needed.
• Coordinate with outreach workers and project team to maintain a safe environment for all children on the bus.
• Perform inspections of the bus before and after each route.

General Administration Support

• Performs other tasks as assigned by the supervisor.
• Participate to all required trainings ( in terms of CP, safety and security…)
• Provision of bus registration papers as well as the bus insurance, the driver’s license and the civil record.
• Provision of a quotation.

Knowledge and Experience

• Minimum 2 years of relevant experience, with a safe driving record;
• Specific driving experience in the area;
• Basic knowledge of protocol rules and procedures;
• Good communication skills;
• Knowledge of driving rules and regulations and skills in minor vehicle repairs;
• Previous experience with education and/or protection projects with a Non-Governmental or other International Organisation is an advantage;

Reporting

The Bus drivers shall report to the project manager.
