Psychologist in Tyre Camps

I) About Developmental Action without Borders, Naba'a:

Developmental Action without Borders - Naba’a, is a Lebanese NGO operational since 2001. Registered under the Ministry of Interior (no. 104/AD), Naba’a is dedicated to serving all marginalized communities in Lebanon, especially children, without distinction of nationality, color, race, or religion. This includes communities within Lebanese camps and gatherings, as well as local Lebanese communities

II) Remarks:

Developmental Action without Borders, Naba’a, does not employ individuals who are married to children (persons under 18). Naba’a enforces a strict zero-tolerance policy regarding sexual exploitation and abuse, sexual harassment, abuse of authority, and discrimination. All prospective candidates must undergo thorough reference and background checks which will mainly verify employment history, professional performance, and adherence to the aforementioned policies. Furthermore, the selected candidates must provide a satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Screening or an equivalent criminal record check as a condition of employment.

III) Responsbilities of Psychologist:

1. Documentation and Case Management

  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation of all services provided to conflict-affected individuals, ensuring detailed records of psychological interventions, assessments, and progress updates.
  • Ensure confidentiality and ethical handling of sensitive information, adhering to organizational policies and international standards of psychological care 

2. Provision of Psychological Support

  • Deliver individualized psychological support to beneficiaries impacted by war, focusing on trauma recovery, emotional stabilization, resilience-building and other post-war essential needs
  • Conduct comprehensive psychological assessments using professional tools to determine each case’s needs and appropriate interventions.
  • Monitor progress through regular follow-ups and adapt support plans in response to evolving psychological, emotional, and social needs.

3. Case Reporting and Referrals

  • Identify and report cases requiring urgent or specialized intervention, ensuring timely responses aligned with the severity of psychological distress.
  • Facilitate and manage referrals to appropriate internal and external services, including psychiatric care, medical support, social services, and legal aid when necessary.

4. Collaboration and Coordination with PSS and Case Management Team

  • Collaborate closely with PSS Facilitators to design and implement psychosocial support activities that promote healing, social reintegration, and community cohesion.
  • Provide technical guidance to case workers to ensure professional, and confidential case management practices.

5. Reporting and Program Development

  • Prepare and submit comprehensive monthly reports detailing psychological service delivery, case outcomes, challenges, and recommendations to support adaptive program development.
  • Contribute to the design and refinement of mental health and psychosocial support (MHPSS) components in response to emerging post-conflict needs.

6. Adherence to Policies and Ethical Conduct

  • Demonstrate full adherence to Nabaa’s code of conduct, including policies on Protection from Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (PSEA), anti-harassment, and safeguarding.
  • Uphold the highest ethical standards in practice, ensuring respect, dignity, and non-discrimination in all interactions with conflict-affected individuals.

IV) Minimum Qualifications

1. Academic Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in Clinical Psychology or equivalent recognized qualification in psychology

2. Professional Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience, including work in humanitarian, community-based, or crisis response settings
  • Proven track record in delivering psychological assessments, therapeutic interventions, and psychosocial support in diverse cultural contexts

3. Competencies: Soft Skills (as required per the selected tasks)

  • Extensive experience in providing individual and group psychological support, ideally within humanitarian or community service frameworks
  • High level of emotional intelligence, empathy, and ability to manage complex emotional and behavioral issues with sensitivity
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain strict confidentiality and uphold ethical standards in all clinical interactions
  • Detailed documentation skills, and the ability to conduct thorough psychological assessments
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively across cultural boundaries

4. Competencies: Technical Skills (as required per the selected tasks)

  • Proficient in computer applications including Microsoft Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and internet-based research
  • Strong report writing skills, including psychological evaluations and case formulations
  • Understanding of community-based mental health and psychosocial support (MHPSS) approaches
  • Sound knowledge of child and adolescent development, child rights, and child protection principles
  • Familiarity with trauma-informed care, psychological first aid, and culturally appropriate therapeutic interventions
