Program Assistant (RF#202503)

I. INTRODUCTION

The Lebanon Reforestation Initiative (LRI) is a Lebanese NGO registered at the Ministry of Interior and Municipalities under no. 1186 on 18 June 2014. LRI's mission is to expand, manage and protect Lebanon’s forests and landscapes through a community-based approach. We work on building resilient communities to environmental threats, increasing environmental awareness and education, advocating for forest conservation, and advancing research in the forestry field.

The Program Assistant at the Lebanon Reforestation Initiative (LRI) is responsible for the Youth Conservation Corps Program (YCC). The Program Assistant will be responsible for managing logistics, communications and supervising outdoor and fieldwork activities, to ensure the smooth operation of program initiatives. The role requires strong organizational skills, experience in youth engagement, and a passion for outdoor environmental work. The Program Assistant will play a crucial role in supporting young participants in their field-based learning experiences while documenting the ongoing activities of the program. He/She will be residing in Arz Ehmej Conservation Park for 6-months from July till December, and from Monday till Friday with two weekends per month.

II. TASKS AND RESPONSABILITIES

Logistics and Field Coordination:

  • Document the daily activities by taking photos, videos and posting stories on YCC’s social media platforms.
  • Archive all documentation including photos, videos, materials, projects on OneDrive.
  • Report all achievements, issues, accidents, etc. on site to the project manager.
  • Plan and oversee the logistics of field activities, ensuring all necessary equipment and materials are available.
  • Support in providing materials needed for the program.
  • Coordinate transportation, accommodation, and other logistical needs for program activities.
  • Ensure proper safety protocols and risk management measures are in place during outdoor activities.

Outdoor and Field Supervision:

  • Supervise and support youth participants during field activities, ensuring engagement and adherence to best practices.
  • Provide hands-on guidance in conservation and environmental management tasks.
  • Foster teamwork and leadership among participants through structured outdoor experiences.
  • Conduct outdoor activities and fitness sessions to promote a healthy routine among participants.
  • Ensure that all outdoor activities are conducted in a safe and inclusive manner.

III. REQUIREMENTS

The Program Assistant should possess the following competencies, skills, and experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in social sciences, business administration, environmental science, natural resource management, or a related field.
  • At least 2-3 years of experience in communications, logistics management, outdoor supervision, or working with youth in field-based programs.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience in community outreach, stakeholder engagement, and field-based program implementation.
  • Ability to work in a dynamic and physically demanding environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with data collection tools.
  • Experience in video and photography is required.
  • Experience in arts and design is a plus.
  • Fluency in Arabic and English (French is a plus).
  • Willingness to travel across Lebanon as needed.
  • Being a scout member or part of a youth club is highly recommended.
  • Pocession of a valid driving license is required.
