Background:

PARD is currently implementing an initiative entitled “Empowerment of refugee women through psychological assistance, training and advocacy in 14 gatherings of South Lebanon, Beirut and Wadi Zeini” in partnership with Najde Association, a member of the relevant consortium along with EuroMed Feminist Initiative (EFI), and funded by the Agence Française de Développement (AFD).  The project aims to provide psychological support to refugee women residing in Beirut and Wadi Zeine gatherings. The initiative focuses on empowering women to address challenges as refugees, fostering resilience, and combating gender-based violence (GBV) and Violence against Women and Girls (VAWG) through therapeutic interventions and appropriate referrals. This program will directly support 200 women through group therapy, 120 identified victims of GBV through individual counseling and referrals in addition to 40 follow-ups from the previous phase of the same initiative.

Objectives of the Assignment: The qualified psychologist will:

  1. Facilitate group therapy sessions for 200 refugee women to:
    • Share experiences and challenges faced as refugees.
    • Learn strategies to unburden themselves emotionally.
    • Address and denounce violence and discrimination.
    • Understand available resources and how to access them.

 

  1. Identify and counsel 120 women victims of GBV and 40 follow-up cases through private, individual sessions to:
    • Provide psychological assistance in a confidential environment.
    • Refer victims to specialized institutions for legal assistance, healthcare, or social services.
    • Support victims in navigating referral channels and accessing aid.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Group Therapy:
    • Design and implement group therapy sessions tailored to the needs of refugee women.
    • Foster a safe and inclusive environment for participants to share their experiences.
    • Educate participants on coping mechanisms, emotional resilience, and available support systems.

 

  1. Individual Counseling:
    • Conduct confidential sessions for women identified as victims of GBV (either in person or through the hotline)
    • Provide tailored psychological interventions to address trauma and emotional distress.
    • Document each case while maintaining confidentiality and ensuring privacy.
    • Develop and follow through on individualized support plans.

 

  1. Referrals and Coordination:
    • Collaborate with specialized institutions to ensure victims receive necessary legal, medical, and social support.
    • Maintain an updated referral directory and guide beneficiaries through the referral process.
    • Monitor and follow up on referred cases to ensure they receive adequate support.

 

  1. Reporting and Documentation:
    • Maintain accurate and confidential records of all sessions and cases.
    • Prepare detailed progress reports highlighting achievements, challenges, and recommendations.
    • Contribute to project evaluations by providing insights and lessons learned.

 

    Deliverables:

    1. Conduct at least 20 group therapy sessions for 200 refugee women.
    2. Provide individual counseling sessions for 120 identified GBV victims and 40 follow-up cases.
    3. Submit a final report summarizing activities, outcomes, and recommendations as well as attendance sheets for each group session, session plans, computerized individual case reports, and at least 2 case studies

    Required Qualifications:

    Master’s degree in Psychology or related field.
    Minimum of 2-years’ experience in psychological counseling, preferably with refugees or marginalized populations.
    Expertise in trauma-informed care and addressing GBV and VAWG.
    Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
    Fluency in Arabic; proficiency in English is an asset.
    Familiarity with referral systems and local resources in Beirut.

    Note: This position requires sensitivity and adherence to principles of confidentiality and ethical practices in dealing with vulnerable populations.
