Storytelling and Audio-Visual Trainer

1. Background

The Lebanese Organisation for Peace and Development (LOPD) is a local NGO established in 2014, dedicated to promoting a culture of peace among youth through dialogue, collaboration, and education. We firmly reject violence stemming from fanaticism, religious extremism, drugs, and other causes. Our efforts include reducing pollution and respecting the environment that nurtures humanity. We enhance education and raise awareness about human rights and freedoms, emphasizing the importance of human rights values and principles and the significance of living with dignity. Our work fosters democracy, cultural and religious diversity, dialogue, social and partial solidarity, and international collaboration. Our goal is to empower individuals to fight for their rights and fulfill their roles in society.

2. Purpose of the Consultancy

This consultancy falls under the We’am project and consortium.  The project being implemented by LODP and is comprised of three outcomes.

  1. Identify and visually document positive success stories that demonstrate good practice between IDP’s and host community responders during the war in order to promote social cohesion and peacebuilding.
  2. Develop a set of regional recommendations through a social cohesion and peacebuilding lens from youth, women and key stakeholders to improve readiness and preparedness when it comes to emergency response.       
  3. Sharing of the culmination of deliverables including the findings report, videos and photo book in a closing event.  

This consultancy will address outcomes 1 and 3, with the trainer/organization/company committing to training 10 participants previously identified by LODP in the Chouf area to receive a training on storytelling.  The selected consultant will also commit to coaching the selected participants to develop communication material as highlighted in outcome 1.    

Storytelling and the audio-visual material developed will be the main vehicle for documenting stories that promote social cohesion and stability.

3. Objectives of the Consultancy:

The overall goal of the consultancy is "To enhance the storytelling and audio-visual production skills of youth and women in the Chouf to effectively communicate positive stories and messages around social cohesion and stability to the general Lebanese population."

4. Scope of Work:

  • Develop a comprehensive training curriculum and material that covers both storytelling and audio-visual production techniques, tailored to the specific needs of the target audience, including presentations, handouts, exercises, and practical assignments.
  • Train 10 youth and women on topics including but not restricted to storytelling, ethics in journalism, gender sensitive reporting, safeguarding, reporting on conflict and others.
  • Support the trained youth and women in collecting success stories that highlight good practice in social cohesion between host communities and IDP’s.
  • Support the trained youth and women to develop visual material including videos and photobooks for dissemination to a wider audience.
  • Support the participants in organizing the final event as well as covering the final event.
  • Submit a detailed training report, including participant attendance, training content covered, key outcomes, challenges encountered, and recommendations for future training.
  • Provide pre- and post-training assessments to measure participants' knowledge and skills gained.

5. Deliverables:

*   Detailed training curriculum and materials and pre- and post-training assessment tools.

*   Training delivery (including all sessions and activities) – 3 to 4 days for the training.

*   2 videos and 1 storybook developed.

*   Training report (including participant feedback and recommendations).

*   Provide coaching and support to the trained participants (number of days to be recommended by the consultant).

*  Support the participants in organizing the final event.

6. Qualifications and Experience:

  • Proven experience in storytelling and audio-visual production.
  • Demonstrated experience in designing and delivering effective training programs.
  • Strong understanding of social cohesion and stability, storytelling and displacement.
  • Excellent communication, facilitation, and presentation skills.
  • Experience working with youth and women is an asset.
  • Relevant academic qualifications (e.g., degree in journalism, communications, film production, education).

For Training Companies:

  • Proven track record of providing high-quality storytelling and audio-visual training services.
  • Experienced team of trainers with relevant expertise.
  • Demonstrated ability to tailor training programs to the specific needs of clients.
  • Strong portfolio of successful social cohesion and stability projects.

 7. Proposal Submission:

Interested companies are requested to submit the following documents:

  • Technical proposal of the suggested plan of the consultancy
  • Financial proposal (dated and signed) that includes a budget for the expected activities and the per diem for each person involved in USD.
