Psychotherapist

AND is operating safe spaces in Akkar (static and mobile) for women and adolescent girls. These spaces provide holistic services focusing on psychosocial support, violence prevention, livelihoods strengthening and social cohesion to diverse vulnerable populations Syrian and Lebanese, including women and girls, and survivors of Sexual and Gender Based Violence (SGBV), torture and trauma.                               

Areas of Responsibility:

General objective of the job

During one-to-one meetings and/or group sessions, the psychotherapist is requested to help the project’s participants with all kinds of difficulties, such as substance abuse, domestic violence, post-traumatic stress, child labor….

As well as talking to the participants and helping them deal with their problems, the psychotherapist is requested to assess service users’ needs and create an appropriate treatment plan for them, which will provide them with a structured and focused way of addressing their problems.

Job Responsibilities:

The Psychotherapist is tasked with maintaining records, tracking their service users’ progress, writing reports, respecting confidentiality and ensuring coordination with case workers.

The main task to be completed by the psychotherapist shall be:

  • Helping project participants to overcome their emotional problems and cope with tough situations using a range of psychological treatments
  • Conducting one on one meetings with service users and creating a treatment plan when needed
  • Conducting emotional support groups in Akkar  
  • Providing psycho-social support services and advice for participants.
  • Working directly with case workers, to develop referrals, intervention plans and follow up.
  • Providing written monthly report.
  • Actively participate in case studies and team supervision sessions
  • She shall be present in each center for advice and guidance.

Personal competencies:

  • Clear understanding of child protection/GBV, gender inequality, and issues of violence against women and children.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and respect at all times.
  • Must be computer literate, including Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Positive and professional attitude, able to organize, maintain composure and prioritize work under pressure, work overtime when necessary and be able to coordinate multiple tasks and maintain attention to detail.
  • Ability to work as a team member.

Position Requirements and Qualifications:

  • Degree/diploma in Clinical Psychology.
  • Counselling and training experience including 2-3 years of experience counselling survivors of abuse or violence.
  • Fluency in Arabic and English.

Reporting

The psychotherapist shall report to the project manager.

Protection from Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (PSEA) is everyone’s responsibility and all staff are required to adhere to the code of conduct, that enshrines principles of PSEA, always (both during work hours and outside work hours). Familiarization with, and adherence to, the Code of Conduct is an essential requirement of all staff, in addition to related mandatory training. All staff must ensure that they understand and act in accordance with this clause.
