Call for Offers: MIL Experts for the EU Funded Project "MIL4Peace" - Lebanon

The EU-funded project “MIL4Peace” aims to promote stability and peace by enhancing the capacity of civil society in Lebanon, Libya, and Tunisia to engage youth in conflict prevention and peacebuilding. The project focuses on empowering youth-led organizations with tools and methods in Media and Information Literacy (MIL) to foster inclusive youth participation, particularly in the digital space. 
As part of this initiative, DW Akademie is seeking MIL experts to support and strengthen youth-led civil society organizations in these efforts. 

Scope of assignment

The assignment involves, but is not limited to, the following tasks:

  • MIL Learning Platform: Contribute to the conceptualization phase of the MIL Learning Platform. Introduce and share the concept of the MIL Learning Platform with CSOs, partners, stakeholders, youth groups, and at international conferences.
  • Mapping: Using a pre-defined template, finalize the pre-mapping of youth-led CSOs based on their outreach capacity, access to marginalized and underserved areas, and commitment to promoting MIL, with a minimum of 10 CSOs included.
  • Networking: interlink selected CSOs with each other and their counterparts from the two other countries to ensure maximum knowledge sharing and impact and impact. Consult about outreach strategies if needed. Become a MIL Ambassador for peace in your country.
  • Online Workshops: Conceptualise and implement two online awareness-raising workshops (one per year) and one sustainability workshop with 10 selected CSOs to introduce the project’s objectives, the MIL Learning Platform, and the concept of boot camps.
  • Boot Camps: Design and lead Boot Camps in collaboration with selected CSOs, based on a prior needs assessment of participants. These Boot Camps will provide practical MIL training for selected youth representatives and CSO leaders across Lebanon, equipping them with MIL methodologies and the skills to produce and disseminate media content within their communities.
  • Monitoring & Reporting: Draft progress reports about achievements and status quo of implementation. Report directly to the DW Akademie National Coordinator.


Requirements

  • Expertise in MIL local & regional & international – Strong knowledge of Media and Information Literacy concepts, methodologies, and best practices.
  • Training Experience online/on site training with ability to develop interactive youth oriented training concept – at least three-years of proven experience in conducting workshops and training sessions, particularly for youth and civil society organizations, online and offline.
  • Familiarity with CSOs – experience working with youth-led civil society organizations, especially those engaged in peace building and reconciliation, and fighting of online violation
  • Knowledge of Peacebuilding – Understanding of conflict prevention, digital literacy, and the role of MIL in peacebuilding efforts.
  • Strong Communication Skills – Ability to effectively engage diverse audiences and facilitate interactive learning.
  • Digital Proficiency – Skilled in digital tools for online learning.
  • Language Skills – Arabic speaking and writing skills (native) as well as English (fluent in speaking and writing).
  • Flexibility & Adaptability – Capacity to tailor training programs based on participants' needs and local contexts.
  • Commitment to Inclusion – Dedication to empowering marginalized and underserved communities through MIL.
  • Willingness to travel within Lebanon.
  • Experience in working for an international organization, such as DW Akademie, would be an asset.

Home-based and on-spot of activities.   

Renumeration and payment

Rate of payment agreed upon selection. Payment will be upon submissions of invoice and timesheet. The payment will be made in EUR. Payment method is subject to agreement.

Duration of Contract
The contracts will start from 15th May 2025 lasting for a period of 27month. The exact number of days will be defined after approval of workplan and timetable during contracting phase.
