Context & Background

Berytech is a leading organization in the Entrepreneurial Eco-system in Lebanon, that aims to provide a conducive environment for the creation and development of startups, through incubation, business support, counseling, funding, networking, and company hosting, hence taking part in the economic revival of the country, participating in wealth and job creation, and retaining graduates and high-level skills in Lebanon.

About Euromed Clusters Forward:

Euromed Clusters Forward is a 4-year project that aims at establishing and improving clusters legal policies, strengthening clusters capacity & regional cooperation, and strengthening regional value chains. Berytech is the implementing partner of Euromed Clusters Forward in Lebanon, that is funded by the European Union and coordinated by Anima Investment Network with 3 implementing partners and 9 affiliates from the Euromed region.

About Cluster Booster:

Cluster Booster is a technical assistance activity under the Euromed Clusters Forward led by Berytech. It aims at strengthening the skills of cluster managers, staff, and SME members in the South Mediterranean region. This 18-month program offers training and technical help to help clusters grow and succeed.

Key focuses include establishing and improving the governance and sustainability models; developing strategies to attract new members; analyzing value chains for better market positioning; scaling-up their business performances and enhancing technological and innovation capabilities to foster North-South Mediterranean collaboration. 

Cluster Overview:

An Egyptian export council under the Ministry of Investment and Foreign Trade, operating since 1997 with 150 active members. Its mission is to improve the competitiveness of Egyptian engineering products by providing export-related services such as producing market intelligence studies, organizing capacity building workshops, participating in international exhibitions, setting up trade missions to priority export markets and buyers’ missions to Egypt, and implementing economic development projects in collaboration with local stakeholders as well as international partners.

Scope of work

The trainer/expert will:

  • Organize a kick-off meeting with the cluster representatives to establish an understanding of the scope and desired outcomes of the capacity building activity.
  • Elaborate a detailed curriculum and learning materials that will, among other things: 
    • Introduce the topic of environmental sustainability in manufacturing and present its different aspects such as reducing energy consumption, minimizing waste, using eco-friendly goods and equipment, and optimizing value chains.
    • Highlight the urgency of change towards sustainable production.
    • Outline, using a selection of inspirational case studies, the various ways green manufacturing practices can improve engineering companies’ bottom line from reducing production costs to enhancing brand image.
    • Provide the participants with tips and tools to help them identify strategic enhancement opportunities and design credible and affordable passes to achieve their green transition.
    • Devise methods on how to conduct a cost-benefit analysis of sustainability projects and on how to prioritize and properly execute them.
    • Detail the various financing options and specific resources available in the Egyptian market to fund green transitions as well as the procedures to follow to successfully access them.
  • Validate the training content with the cluster representatives.
  • Secure a venue and refreshments for the event.
  • Deliver and facilitate the green manufacturing workshop.
  • Administer a satisfaction survey to the participants.
  • Write a brief report summarizing the activity and listing the key findings of the satisfaction survey.

Timeline

The total number of working days allocated for this consultancy is set at 10 days.

Qualifications
  • A degree in environmental engineering or any other related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in designing and delivering training programs related to green manufacturing and/or sustainable production practices.
  • A proven track record in providing advisory services on sustainable manufacturing approaches and/or green transitions to SMEs.
  • A sound knowledge of the elaboration and execution of green transformation plans.
  • Strong communication and facilitation skills. 
  • Fluency in English and Arabic.

The Application should include:

  • Technical proposal describing the methodology, content of the mission
  • Financial proposal describing the costs incurred in preparing and providing the mission. The financial proposal shall be quoted in EURO and divided per deliverable.
  • CVs of the individuals involved
