Under the direct supervision of the senior PWSN case worker, the Speech Therapist will play an essential role in supporting each child's communication goals and enhance their ability to interact, learn, and engage with the world around them.
Responsibilities and Essential Functions
The Speech Therapist will assess, diagnose, and treat communication and feeding disorders in children with a range of disabilities, including developmental delays, autism spectrum disorder (ASD), cerebral palsy, Down syndrome, and other physical, cognitive, and neurological conditions. The therapist will work collaboratively with families, educators, and multidisciplinary teams.
- Conduct comprehensive speech, language, voice, fluency, and feeding/swallowing assessments using standardized tools and clinical observations.
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans tailored to each child’s communication needs.
- Provide direct therapy services in individual and group settings, using evidence-based techniques.
- Support children with expressive/receptive language delays, articulation disorders, speech motor planning issues, and social communication challenges.
- Collaborate with families and caregivers by providing home programs, parent coaching, and regular progress updates.
- Work closely with interdisciplinary teams including occupational therapists, physical therapists, psychologists, and special educators to ensure holistic, coordinated care.
- Maintain detailed and accurate records, document progress, and contribute to reports.
- Participate in team meetings, case conferences, and case planning.
Qualifications
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA):
- Language skills: Fluent in Arabic and good command of English (speaking, reading, writing).
- Work experience: 2 years, preferably with NGOs.
- Ability to work compassionately and effectively with children, families, and a multidisciplinary team.
- Highly empathic in dealing with beneficiaries especially children with specific needs.
- Computer skills: good command of Word and Excel.
- Excellent knowledge of Protection principles and of PSEA.
- Excellent communication skills, including active listening.
- Knowledge of developmental disabilities, communication disorders, and therapeutic strategies suited for diverse learning profiles.
Experience:
- At least 3 years work experience
- Previous experience in NGO, and humanitarian field is an advantage.
- Minimum of 1–2 years of experience working with children, preferably those with disabilities.
