PHE Assistant

our teamTo reduce public health risks and contribute to a life with dignity for the communities in South Lebanon through the construction of water, sanitation and hygiene facilities. job purposeThis position will be part of an integrated Humanitarian programme in Beirut. The WASH component will include both public health engineering and public health promotion activities with the aim of providing comprehensive WASH assistance to vulnerable persons. This position, primarily being field-based with daily field visits, will work in South Lebanon to ensure community engagement with hygiene activities and practices.

Technical

Programme Implementation

  • To work with the implementation partners and contractors on assigned tasks as set by the PHE Officer a/o PHE Senior Officer
  • To follow up and monitor workers at the work site and ensure all the construction or rehabilitation of infrastructure and water and sanitation facilities are in accordance to technical specification and method statements.
  • To follow the works implemented, including daily and weekly site visit
  • To report regularly, verbally and in writing to the PHE Officer a/o PHE Senior Officer
  • With the PHE D2, establish systems and controls for daily site checks and documentation.
  • Create and maintain a good relationship with the implementing partners and construction workers and sub-contractors.
  • To produce non-conformance reports, establish a database and contribute to the close out of non-conformance.
  • With the guidance of the PHE Officer ensure that health and safety monitoring is incorporated into all daily site supervision activities.
  • To ensure that all PHE programmes activities take gender issues fully into account. This includes the introduction of mechanisms to enable women to participate in decision making around public health engineering issues.
  • Maintain a good relationship with the implementing partners.
  • Responsible for keeping a log of all 'lessons learnt" during the project.
  • Ensure a photographic diary is maintained.

 

Coordination

  • As requested, participate in WaSH field-based meetings with other stakeholders.
  • Actively participate in weekly team meetings.
  • Collect and report community level programme information.
