JOB TITLE: Finance Officer
LOCATION: Beirut, Lebanon with extensive travel across the region
ABAAD PURPOSE:
ABAAD aims at achieving gender equality as an essential condition to sustainable social and economic development in the MENA region. ABAAD has a proven record in working in addressing GBV in emergency settings through women, boys’ and girls’ empowerment and improving the quality of multi-sectorial assistance for women and girls’ survivors or at risk of GBV among the host and Syrian refugee population.
BACKGROUND:

ABAAD has a proven record in working in addressing GBV in emergency settings. “Ending Gender-Based Violence: towards standardization and strengthening quality of services and direct response” is an initiative aiming at reducing the risks of Gender-Based Violence (GBV) through women, boys’ and girls’ empowerment and improving the quality of multi-sectorial assistance for women and girls’ survivors or at risk of GBV among the host and Syrian refugee population.
In order to increase vulnerable women and girls’ (from all nationalities) access to prevention and response services.
ABAAD has a zero-tolerance policy to Sexual Exploitation and Abuse. Protection from Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (PSEA) is everyone’s responsibility and all staff are required to adhere to the Code of Conduct, that enshrines principles of PSEA, always (both during work hours and outside work hours). Familiarization with, and adherence to, the Code of Conduct is an essential requirement of all staff, in addition to related mandatory training. All staff must ensure that they understand and act in accordance with this clause.
JOB PURPOSE:
The Finance Officer will be assisting with all financial aspects. S/he will be working closely with the Finance Coordinator to ensure that all financial manners are in order.
REPORTING LINES
Directly: Post holder reports directly to the Finance Manager.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- The finance officer will need to support and assist with the following tasks:
- Processes incoming invoices and vouchers within the timeline, ensuring that these are properly approved, stamped and coded.
- Prepares monthly Cash on Hand and Bank Reconciliations, and Cash/Bank transaction journals.
- Ensures that transactions are complete and accurate. Reviews coding on all vouchers/GL for all valid accounts.
- Keep track on all Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable balances, in order to be able to loop in the Finance Admin/Manager in case any adjustment is needed before month close end
- Assists the Finance Manager in the month closure on a monthly basis, in coordination with the finance team.
- Assists in the monthly and quarterly VAT and Income Tax reporting.
- Assists in preparation of weekly and monthly cash flow. Plans and requests cash disbursements.
- Assists in Audit schedule preparation: both internal and external
- Assists the Finance Manager in the preparation of monthly financial reports or any donor report, and respond to any other/urgent task requested.
- Works on analyzing the financial data in order to notify the Finance Manager and the Finance Admin/Director in case of any unusual budget variation.
- Other relevant tasks assigned by the supervisor.
SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES:
- Bachelor Degree in Finance/Accounting/other relevant degree
- Minimum 2 to 3 years of experience with NGOs
- Expertise in financial reporting
- Expertise in MS. Office and accounting software
- Ability to influence individuals and groups through the use of diplomacy, negotiation and strategy.
- Ability to achieve goals and meet deadlines.
- Self-motivated, intelligent, articulate, detail-oriented and able to manage and
- Complete multiple tasks and assignments.
