Under the supervision of the Lebanon PSS Specialist and Global Child Protection and Psychosocial
Support Lead, the Sport for Well-being Specialist (Consultant) is responsible for developing and
strengthening the use of Sport related to programs focused on improving children and young
people’s protection and psychosocial wellbeing.
The Specialist (Consultant) will mainly support Lebanon programs integrating child protection and
psychosocial support, developing play-based manuals, sessions, MEL activities and training
approaches and resources that can be rolled out across Right To Play’s country programs on the use
of Sport-based activities for Protection and Psychosocial wellbeing. As a skilled facilitator and trainer,
the Sport for Well-being Specialist will provide ongoing support to Lebanon Country Office ensuring
continuous knowledge, sharing of best practices and lessons learned on the use of Sport-based
activities to advance the work on Child Protection and Psychosocial Support. The Specialist will work
closely with Global Child Protection and Psychosocial Support Team (Global and Country-based)
upon needs in RTP country offices, including strong collaboration with other global and country
Program Quality & Impact teams as part of a surge capacity response to specific immediate needs
(like in programmatic responses as a result of conflict and fragility).
Specific to this consultancy, the role will support the delivery of Play Well Project aimed at
capacitating physical education teachers to deliver sports for PSS activities in their schools, he/she
will be involved in needs assessments and consultants with teachers and school directors, design
of PSS framework and development of training resources to be used. He/she will also play a role in
monitoring, evaluation and learning of the project. The consultancy period will be for 30 working days
across a period of 3 months.
Develop a Sport for PSS framework for RTP Lebanon
- Develop familiarity with existing relevant materials and resources including RTP’s country strategic plan, theory of change (ToC), and
- CP/PSS program strategy.
- Conduct stakeholder engagement activities to identify priority needs and scope of the framework including consultation with children, employees and school teachers;
- Review existing internal and external secondary data to further triangulate the needs and gaps that the PSS framework needs to address
- Identify core PSS competencies and skills relevant to the needs of children in schools and local communities embedded in a gendersensitive approach
- Draft Sport for PSS framework including methodology of such interventions, their linkage with RTP and Lebanon’s PSS and SEL frameworks, and associated facilitator guidelines, and MEL outcomes.
Develop Sport for Well-being resource
- Map and review existing RTP sport-based resources to identify games and activities that fit the PSS framework and identified core competencies
- Develop sport for PSS activities as deemed necessary to fill the gaps including crosscutting themes related to environmental sustainability and disaster education.
- Facilitate consultation with schools headmasters and teachers to align resources with the scope and sequence of schools’ curricula
- Develop Sport for PSS resource including facilitators manual, sessions booklet, and MEL tools.
Support RTP staff capacity and skills development in relation to training and
resource development on Sport for PSS
- Train RTP staff on the PSS framework and provide ToT on the developed Sport for PSS resource.
- Provide coaching and support for RTP frontliners during and after their facilitation of the Sport for PSS training for school teachers.
- Support the documentation and dissemination of best practices, evaluations, and lessons learned.
V. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (Must have):
(A) EDUCATION/TRAINING/CERTIFICATION:
Master’s degree in education or equivalent combination of education and work experience
(B) EXPERIENCE:
- 7+ years in the International Development and/or Humanitarian sector (preferably with oversees experience).
- 2-5 years teaching (preferably adults)
- Demonstrated resource and curriculum design and implementation.
- Development, implementation, and management of training initiatives in the international development context.
- Experience working with a variety of stakeholders in cross-cultural settings.
- Management of staff and volunteers.

(D) TECHNICAL SKILLS:
- International development knowledge base in thematic areas including Education and Child
- Development, Health, Peace Building and Conflict Resolution, Community Development,
- Gender Equality, Child Protection and Disability.
- A strong background in principles of adult education.
- Proficiency in evaluating the effectiveness of workshops and the implementation of activities with children.
- Substantial experience and knowledge of program standards and training processes for NGO programs.
- Results Based Management.
- Project Management and Planning.
- Technical Writing.
- M&E knowledge base.
