Reporting to: Executive Director
Location: Beirut, Lebanon (with possible regional travel)
Type: Full-time
Salary: 1,500$ to 1,800$
Background
Adyan, Foundation for diversity, solidarity and human dignity, works locally, regionally and internationally for pluralism, inclusive citizenship, community resilience, and spiritual solidarity, through homegrown solutions in education, media, policymaking, and intercultural and interreligious relations. Adyan is registered in Lebanon as a non-profit and nongovernmental organization (NGO), under registration number 1103 by a ministerial decree dated 18 September 2008. Adyan also has registered branches in Iraq (Baghdad and Erbil) since 2022.
Role Purpose
Adyan is seeking to recruit a Communication and Media Coordinator who will play a central role in strengthening the foundation’s voice, visibility, and engagement with diverse audiences.The Communication and Media Coordinator leads Adyan’s external communication, media engagement, and strategic messaging. This role ensures the consistency, visibility, and effectiveness of Adyan’s communications across all platforms and projects, while also coordinating with program teams and donors to ensure alignment with programmatic goals and visibility compliance.
Key Responsibilities
1. Strategic Communication
- Develop and implement a comprehensive communication strategy in line with Adyan’s mission and strategic objectives.
- Develop, finalze and implement action plan with key indicators related to communication strategy.
- Lead the development of key messages for the organization and its programs.
- Ensure the coherence of Adyan’s voice and branding across all platforms and materials.
2. Coordination with Program Teams
- Collaborate closely with program managers to ensure communication supports programmatic needs, outreach, and advocacy.
- Translate programmatic content and outcomes into accessible, engaging materials for public audiences and stakeholders.
- Participate in program planning processes to integrate communication components from the outset.
3. Donor Visibility and Compliance
- Ensure all communication products and media outputs meet donor visibility requirements and branding guidelines.
- Coordinate with project managers and donors to obtain approvals when required.
- Maintain a checklist and tracking system for compliance with visibility rules across all funded projects.
4. Media and Public Relations
- Act as Adyan’s spokesperson, as delegated by the Executive Director.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with national, regional, and international media outlets.
- Draft and disseminate press releases, statements, and media kits.
5. Content Creation and Event Coverage
- Oversee coverage of all major events, campaigns, and public activities.
- Produce and supervise the creation of multimedia content (videos, articles, infographics, social media content).
- Ensure timely and engaging storytelling aligned with program values and outcomes.
6. Management of Service Providers
- Coordinate external service providers (graphic designers, videographers, translators, printers).
- Ensure quality, cost-efficiency, and timely delivery of outputs.
7. Monitoring, Reporting & Evaluation
- Track and report on media coverage, campaign performance, and audience engagement.
- Contribute to communication sections of donor reports and organizational annual reports.
8. Digital Communication
- Manage website content and updates.
- Lead on strategy, scheduling, and content for Adyan’s social media platforms and digital campaigns.
- Monitor online presence and engagement metrics.
9. Narrative Simplification and Advocacy Support
- Translate complex ideas (e.g., FoRB, social cohesion, pluralism) into accessible language and visuals.
- Develop advocacy toolkits and materials to support Adyan’s thought leadership and public influence.
10. Internal Communication and Capacity Building
- Facilitate effective internal communication between teams regarding media needs, campaign timelines, and outputs.
- Support staff and partners with basic communication/media training when needed.
- Contribute to the preparation of the organization's newsletter twice per year.
- Support the development and coordination of annual reports and newsletters in collaboration with relevant teams.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Communication, Media, Public Relations, Journalism, or related field (Master’s is an asset).
- At least 5 years of professional experience in communication within NGOs, international organizations, or media.
- Excellent written and verbal communication in Arabic and English (French is a plus).
- Experience in donor communication compliance, particularly with international donors and UN agencies.
- Strong project coordination skills, including managing vendors and production timelines.
- Demonstrated ability to simplify complex topics into clear and relatable content.
- Familiarity with digital communication platforms and analytics tools.
- Commitment to Adyan’s mission, values, and advocacy work.
- Proactive and able to work independently.
- Able to handle pressure and meet tight deadlines.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Creative and resourceful in developing content and communication strategies.
