Financial Consultant

Areas of Responsibility:

The financial consultant is required to strengthen AND’s internal processes by preparing a finance manual that encompasses AND’s financial policies and in acquiring best practices and executing these in their daily operations; Thus, helping the programs and finance staff understand and undertake their responsibilities for a sound financial management system.

Job Responsibility:

The financial consultant is expected to deliver the following:

  • Create a finance manual that describe AND’s financial system and procedure including organization chart, delegation of authority, segregation of duties, budgetary control and monitoring, controls on income, controls on expenditure, controls on financial assets/record keeping, controls on human resources, controls on physical assets and documenting and communicating the financial procedures and policies with all AND’s staff making sure the manual is easy to read as possible.
  • Assessing the needs of AND’s needs and goals and ensure that the above-mentioned manual is responding to these needs.
  • Gathering information and this includes existing documents, such as AND’s strategic plan, budget, financial statements, contracts, audits, and reviews. It also includes input from your stakeholders, such as the board, team members, partners, and beneficiaries.
  • Drafting the policies that covers four main areas such as financial governance, financial planning, financial operations, and financial reporting.
  • Reviewing and testing the policies and check for accuracy, completeness, clarity, compliance, feasibility, effectiveness, and efficiency.
  • Establishing mechanisms for enforcing and evaluating the policies on a regular basis.

Position Requirements and Qualifications:

  1. BA in finance, accounting, or similar field.
  2. Minimum of 10 years in a senior finance position.
  3. Proven experience as finance consultant or similar role.                           
  4. In-depth knowledge of financial principles and best practices.                 
  5. Ability to think strategically and analytically.                        
  6. Excellent communication skills.
  7. Ability to manage a group and demonstrate leadership.
  8. Ability to monitor and evaluate financial skills of the beneficiaries.
  9. Strong cross-cultural skills and experience working with people from different ethnic/cultural backgrounds.
  10. Proven ability to multi-task and meet deadlines.
  11. Proficient in MS Office, financial reporting, and analysis.

Reporting

The Financial Consultant shall report to the program director.

Familiarization with, and adherence to, the Code of Conduct is an essential requirement of all staff, in addition to related mandatory training. All staff must ensure that they understand and act in accordance with this clause.
