Key Responsibilities
Strategic Planning
- Design and implement a dynamic communications strategy aligned with our editorial mission and audience growth goals
- Manage The Public Source’s social media channels
- Build editorial calendars and thematic campaigns to promote new materail and archival work
- Monitor analytics and adapt strategies to improve reach and engagement
Newsletter Engagement
- Produce and edit a regular newsletter that connects with readers
- Use segmentation and testing strategies to grow our mailing list and deepen audience engagement
Audience Engagement
- Develop initiatives that foster two-way communication with our readers
- Collaborate with the editorial team to integrate audience insights into our work
Revenue Communications
- Support the development and launch of The Public Source’s online store (e.g., merchandise, digital publications).
- Plan and execute communications campaigns to promote store offerings and integrate them into broader outreach efforts.
- Track reader feedback to shape messaging and future offerings
- Develop and maintain online donation platforms, ensuring they are effectively integrated into fundraising communications
Outreach & Media Relations
- Draft and manage press releases, public announcements, and promotional content.
- Assist in building relationships with media, partners, and supporters to broaden our reach.
Qualifications
- At least 5 years of proven experience in communications, media, digital engagement, or related fields
- Background in journalism or editorial work is strongly preferred
- Excellent writing and editing skills in English; proficiency in Arabic is a strong asset.
- Demonstrated experience managing social media channels for an organization or publication.
- Strategic thinker with the ability to develop and execute multi-platform campaigns.
- Familiarity with email marketing tools, basic graphic design tools (e.g., Canva, Adobe Suite), and analytics platforms.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in independent media, advocacy, or nonprofit environments.
- Knowledge of online store platforms and experience in product or fundraising communications.
- Understanding of media and political landscapes in Lebanon and the SWANA region.
- Visual storytelling or video editing skills are a plus.
The Fine Print
Location: Beirut, Lebanon (hybrid: a mix of on-site and remote work)
Type: Part-time
Start Date: July 1, 2025 (negotiable)
Salary: Commensurate with experience, starting at $1,000 per month
Contract: This is a part-time position with an annual contract, renewable based on performance and funding
