Purpose:
The PSS focal point is responsible for preparing logistical needs and technical, age-appropriate content of CP activities, and directly implementing activities with children and caregivers. She/he works closely with the community coordinator and CP technical officer to ensure all needs of activities are met and to get needed support.
He/she is responsible for monitoring target achievements, quality impact, and identification and referral of cases. Together with outreach workers and in coordination with community coordinators, PSS focal points work also on supporting field outreach activities. The PSS focal points are line managed by the community coordinators, and report technically to both community coordinator and Child Protection officer.
Objectives/Responsibilities:
Objective 1: Plans and implements PSS and CP activities
To design and implement PSS, FPSS and CP activities targeting children and/or caregivers, of which Psychological First Aid;
To ensure that the beneficiaries have the possibility to participate in designing the activity, to express themselves and to be heard, and that there is possibility for boys and girls to work both together and in gender-based groups;
To be able to deal with difficult behaviors (conflict, aggressiveness, introversion), to understand the reason behind the behavior and to try as much as possible to involve other participants as a resource to solve the problem;
To be in charge of developing, delivering and monitoring the activities’ implemented as well as to train the community volunteers through “learning by doing” and “coaching” approach;
To participate in the preparation, execution and organization of Awareness sessions for the beneficiaries of all age groups;
Objective 2: Identifies vulnerable cases and referral pathways and monitors CP activities and their impact;
To monitor the beneficiaries’ participation in the activities and follow up on absences;
To monitor child and/or caregivers' progress, identify children in need, and refer disability cases to the caseworkers and the team leader as soon as identified;
To report in case of any kind of abuse to the community coordinator and/or other relevant personnel.
Objective 3: Supports outreach activities;
To carry out with the community volunteers PSS activities in outreach using specific methodologies to support the beneficiaries;
To support the community coordinator in identifying remote locations and involve beneficiaries living in these areas, as well as in outreaching and assessing the beneficiaries through home visits and phone calls.
Objective 4: Plans and requests the material needed for the activities to the Community Coordinator;
To plan the materials needed for the activities with the support of the community coordinator and the CPO;
To be responsible for the proper use and basic maintenance of the PSS materials and the location’s facility.
Objective 5: Refers internal and/or external beneficiaries with special needs, and follow up on the referred cases' conditions in collaboration with the coordinators and technical;
Objective 6: Actively participates in the trainings provided by TDH IT or other external parties and participates in the weekly coordination meetings;
Objective 7: Monitors protection risks and needs and identifies protection cases;
Objective 8: Maintains good relationships with communities and community actors;
Objective 9: Reports, Capitalization and Communication
To develop and report in writing a detailed weekly activity plan, indicating specifically the aim and the objectives of the activities to closely monitor results achieved with the beneficiaries;
To administer data entry of field activities;
To ensure proper documentation of data collected (hard and soft copies);
To share information on field-level successes and challenges with the project team when needed.
Objective 10: To comply with the TDH IT Code of Conduct and Visibility standards.
And any other duties seemed relevant to the position and assigned by your manager.
