FEMALE is a community based non-profit grassroot feminist organization that works towards a just and safe world for women and girls in all their diversities through driving social-behavioral changes, movement building, knowledge production and dissemination, and policy reform.
Job Purpose: Responsible for tasks related to finance.
Reporting to: Financial Coordinator
Relations with Others: Close working relationship with all team members and Executive Director
Major Responsibilities:
• Ensures that all expenses are correctly recorded in the accounts (general and cost accounting): names, accounting codes, cost accounting codes, lettering, exchange rates, etc.
• Ensures that the accounting journals and cash flow journals of the projects in the project portfolio match each other.
• Liaise with the Senior HR coordinator regarding all NSSF, Income Tax and Salary payments and ensure that accounting requirements are respected.
• Lead on the Cash Fund Request Process ensuring that enough funds are available to proceed with all expected monthly payments keeping safe margin and avoiding accumulating too significant bank balance.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date accounting records using FEMALE’s financial software.
• Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
• Monitor and reconcile bank accounts, petty cash, and ledgers.
• Prepare payroll, ensuring statutory deductions are calculated and submitted.
• Ensure compliance with internal financial procedures and donor requirements.
• Support the audit process by preparing required documents and responding to queries.
• Track project budgets and report on variances.
• Manage invoices, expense claims, and vendor payments and receipts.
• Support procurement and inventory tracking where applicable.
• Assist in preparing projects budgets and organizational budgets.
• Support in banking relationships and act as the primary liaison person.
• The position holder may be required to undertake other duties that are broadly in line with the above key duties.
Qualifications:
• knowledge of gender and familiarity with the human rights and feminist work approaches;
• Excellent knowledge of Arabic and English is mandatory;
• Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in accounting or finance, ideally in a similar role within an international or non-profit organization.
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles, budgeting, and reporting.
• knowledge of gender and familiarity with the human rights and feminist work approaches.
