1. Description
The project comprises three types of cash for work activities targeting 900 workers: food production activities, including the production and distribution of daily meals and preserves baskets to 500 vulnerable families in targeted neighborhoods; agricultural activities including urban farming, small-scale farming; and crafts activities. Food production activities and Agriculture will run for 5 cycles, while the craft activities will run for 4 cycles. Each cycle will start with a period of training, part of which will be technical, and will differ from one sub-activity to another, and part of which will be cross-cutting across all sub-activities, over two days. The latter part will include onboarding training on PSEA, code of conduct, non-violent communication, work ethics and well-being. Once training is complete, the workers will move on to the production phase.
Objective:
The objective of this bid is to contract a service provider who can facilitate, supervise, and implement carpentry activities by offering the necessary technical support, space, and human resources over a duration of 80 working days.
Scope of work:
The selected bidder will be responsible for providing the following services:
A. Technical and Logistical Support
- Develop and submit a booklet/catalogue of selected wooden items to be produced during the activity including:
- Designs and dimensions
- Estimated materials required (detailed Bills Of Quantities for the approved items)
- Images or sketches for clarity
B. Venue & Equipment
- Provide access to a fully equipped carpentry workshop/factory for the full duration of 80 working days, ensuring:
- Safe working conditions
- Adequate tools and machinery
- Sufficient space to host up to 14 cash workers
C. Human Resources
- Assign a professional carpentry trainer to:
- Deliver technical training to cash workers on basic and advanced carpentry skills
- Oversee production techniques and quality control
- Ensure adherence to safety and project standards
D. Finishing Services
- Ensure the availability of a skilled worker responsible for:
- Sanding and smoothing finished products
- Painting and varnishing final wooden items
- Ensuring clean and professional finishing of each item
Deliverables:
- A detailed booklet/catalogue of wooden items (PDF format)
- Functional carpentry space operational for 80 working days
- Presence of one trainer throughout the project
- Fully sanded and painted products meeting agreed quality standards
- Weekly progress and attendance reports
Eligibility Criteria
Bidders must:
- Be legally registered and authorized to provide such services
- Have a proven track record in carpentry training, workshop management, and production
- Demonstrate the availability of a workshop space and qualified personnel
- Commit to the deliverables outlined above
