Trainer for the Mobile Crisis Team (MCT) - mhGAP

The trainer will be responsible for providing structured training sessions to newly recruited MCT members (project coordinator, psychiatrists, psychiatric nurses), equipping them with the necessary knowledge and skills to handle psychiatric emergencies effectively. 

 

A. Major Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop and conduct targeted training sessions for the Mental Health Crisis Team (MCT), ensuring alignment with the WHO’s Mental Health Gap Action Programme (mhGAP). The training will be adapted to the team's operational context, addressing both clinical and practical aspects relevant to emergency mental health response, and covering the below: 
  1. Essential of Care and Practice 
  2. Psychosis Module    
  3. Mood Disorders Module 
  4. PTSD Humanitarian 
  5. Substance Use Disorder Module 
  6. Suicide/self-harm Module 
  • Assess trainees’ competencies through interactive discussions, case studies, and evaluations. 
  • Offer feedback and recommendations for further capacity-building needs. 
  • Design and administer pre- and post-training assessments to measure the trainee’s knowledge and skills development. 

 

B.  Deliverables 

  • A structured training plan and materials (PowerPoint presentations, case studies, handouts).  
  • Facilitate and deliver the training sessions, ensuring engagement and practical application.  
  • A comprehensive training report summarizing participant feedback, assessment results, and recommendations for further capacity building. 

 

 

C.  Qualifications 

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in psychiatric crisis intervention and emergency mental health care. 
  • Previous experience in training healthcare professionals or crisis teams. 
  • Strong knowledge of mental health legislation and ethical guidelines. 
  • Excellent communication and facilitation skills. 

 

C.  Commitment:  

Two full training days (9:00 AM – 3:30 PM) - to be scheduled between June 28, 2025 and July 14, 2025.
